Jackie (findingjackie) And it's Nicole's fault. I read a post of hers over at the Sookie group about Janet Evanovich. I'd never read anything she'd written. Well, I was in a bookstore a few weeks ago and I read about half of One to Get Deadly while I was sitting in the coffee shop there. So I picked up the first 5 books and I just finished number 3 already. And now I'm wondering how many other good authors I've been missing out on!

Janet's Stephanie Plum series rocks! It makes you laugh outloud! Grandma Mazur is hilarious!

Welcome!

message 3: by Jackie (new)

Jackie (findingjackie) It does! I've been reading and I would start giggling and my husband would just roll his eyes. :)

I love Grandma Mazur!

chris (antsissy1) | 16 comments Welcome! janet won't disappoint you. I haven't read anything in a long time that continuously keeps me interested and reading, and laughing at the same time. The number books are the best but I also liked the barnaby series (nascar guy). The between the numbers are fast reading. Some of the reissued romance novels are just ok. But she is the best!

message 5: by Angie (new)

Angie I am also reading because of Nicole! I just finished book one. I am glad to have found the series!

message 6: by Liz (new)

Liz | 5 comments I'm new to this group and glad I found it. I have read all her books and can't wait for FEARLESS FOURTEEN!!

I haven't started Fearless Fourteen yet. It's sitting at my house waiting for me! I want to leave work now so I can go home and read!

message 8: by Jess (new)

Jess Tayse (mrstayse) | 1 comments I am new to the group too but not the series. I have read five books I think. I love the series - it makes me laugh out loud. My husband thinks I'm crazy when I am reading the books - he will say, "What are you reading???" LOL.

message 9: by Jess (new)

Jess | 69 comments I always thought that Evanovich's books were more often read by women. Well I was proved wrong. I had to unfortunatley sit in a hospital waiting room a few months ago, and I saw 3! men reading Fearless Fourteen. I thought that was crazy!

It's almost time for Plum Spooky!!!

My friend's dad reads the books with her and her mom! So cute!

message 11: by Stacy (new)

Stacy (stacymarie913) Hello All,
I'm new to the group and I'm a huge Janet/Stephanie fan! I read Plum Lucky and Fearless Fourteen all in one weekend recently and I just started Plum Spooky today.
I started reading the Stephanie Plum series in 2006 and caught up to her by the time she released Twelve Sharp.
I read some of the posts in the movie thread and remember seeing something on Janet's website about it where you could vote for who you want to play the characters. Is there anymore news on this?

Janet has nothing to do with choosing the characters for the movie. However, there is alot of discussion on her website about people we would like to see play the parts. One for the Money is the only book that the rights have been sold for a movie so far... and that was many years ago... they still haven't put that into action.

I hope to see a movie in the next 5 years. Before Sandra Bullock gets too old!! She still looks awesome though and probably always will. I just picture Stephanie in her early 30s and freshy baby faced.

message 14: by Jess (new)

Jess | 69 comments I always thought that Sandra Bullock would be a perfect Stephanie.. I think when I read it, I picture Sandra but with a lot of hair lol.

I hope they come out with a movie, they've been talking about it for so long.

message 15: by Stacy (new)

Stacy (stacymarie913) I agree with others that Sandra Bullock is too old for the part now. I hate to say that becuase I love her. But I think some one like Anne Hathaway or Isla Fischer (sp?) would make a really good Stephanie. I love Reese too, but I never pictured her as Stephanie.

message 16: by Jess (new)

Jess | 69 comments Oo Anne Hathaway might be good...

Is Isla Fischer the one who is in Confessions of a Shopaholic?

message 17: by Stacy (new)

Stacy (stacymarie913) Yes she is, she was also in Wedding Crashers.

message 18: by Jess (new)

Jess | 69 comments I just saw that movie. it was pretty funny, but anyway, I can see her being a good Steph, just without the red hair lol.

message 19: by Stacy (new)

Stacy (stacymarie913) Right. Actually, I had a thought yesterday that Anne Hathaway could be Stephanie and Isla Fischer could be Joyce. I think that would be great!

message 20: by Dawn (new)

Dawn rizzi (dawnie278) | 24 comments Hey all,
I am knew to group. Currently reading Fearless fourteen and I just finised Plum Lucky last week. I have been reading her for years and I love every book. They always make me laugh outloud and I am always waiting for the next one to be released.

message 21: by Stacy (new)

Stacy (stacymarie913) Hey Dawn! Great to see you in this group! Real quick - in case you didn't know - the release date for Finger Lickin' Fifteen is June 23rd.

message 22: by Dawn (new)

Dawn rizzi (dawnie278) | 24 comments Thanks I didnt know. I think Dune Road is around the same. Maybe I will make that my time to hit the new b & n in my area they just built.

message 23: by Kaz. (new)

Kaz. Hi I'm Karen and new to this group, I am currently reading "Hot Stuff" and really enjoying it, I picked it up from the Library yesterday while I was there and I'm about half way through already.
I can see that I will be reading everything that Janet Evanovich has written, I love reads that make you laugh.
I have also got the first Stephanie Plum book "One for the Money" on my bookshelf here at home to read, it sounds like a really good series and I want to start it from the beginning.

message 24: by Stacy (new)

Stacy (stacymarie913) Hi Karen!
I really think you'll love the Stephanie Plum series. Every single book makes me laugh out loud. I had to read them in order too and I loved them so much, it took less than a month to catch up.

message 25: by Jess (new)

Jess | 69 comments I wish I was back at the beginning and could start the whole series all over lol! I'm envious of you Karen, enjoy the books!!

message 26: by Kerri (new)

Kerri (bookmom) | 1 comments I really enjoy the Stephanie Plum series. The books always make me laugh out loud...the problem being I can read a lot faster than poor Janet can write. I am needing suggestions as to other series that the Plum Lovers enjoy? I've read Sue Grafton's Alphabet series and enjoyed them also are there any others?

message 27: by Dawn (new)

Dawn rizzi (dawnie278) | 24 comments Kerri ,
My suggestion is Stuart woods. The stone barrington novels.

message 28: by Kaz. (new)

Kaz. What are they about Dawn?

message 29: by Dawn (new)

Dawn rizzi (dawnie278) | 24 comments On par with James Patterson. Stone barrington is a excop turned Lawyer. Each book he is somehow involved in a murder. He is handsome and loves the ladies and oh yeah he is pretty well off.

message 30: by Kaz. (new)

Kaz. Thanks Dawn, I'll give one of his a go.

message 31: by Kaz. (new)

Kaz. Well I've finished "Hot Stuff" and loved it, it was such a fun read, can't wait to start on the Stephanie Plum series now.

hi to all i am new here also.

have you tried Robert Barret or Peter Corris (Cliff Hardy series) both Australian authors but both write series about quirky private investigators. a bit of biffo, so if this is not your thing don't go there.

both funny with great characterisation, relationships and dialogue. Easy to read but hard to put down.

i also agree that Stuart Wood is worth a try. so long ago i can't describe them with any gaurantee of accuracy.

Tracy | 2 comments Hey all, I'm new to the board but not the books. I love the books and can't wait until the 23rd. I recently was sick and had to stay in bed for 3 weeks, so I re-read the entire series. It was the perfect medicine. I am up to 14 again and should be done with it today. perfect timing right. Happy Reading to all.

message 40: by Kellyyyylynne (new)

Kellyyyylynne Hi everyone. I am new to the group but definitely not to Janet and Stephanie. I have not read any of her books outside the S.P. series. My mom turned me on to the series a couple of years ago and I can't get enough. The books just make you laugh out loud. I am trying to finish up a couple of books I picked up from the library and then I have Fearless Fifteen to get started on. This is one of the few sets of books I actually purchase since they end up getting passed all over creation. My mom has actually gone back and started from the beginning and tells me you won't believe everything you have forgotten. I can't wait to see what everyone's comments are on the new book.

message 41: by Melissa (new)

Melissa (mblisa) | 7 comments Welcome Kelly!
