Zoe (zo-ereader) | 490 comments Duration: August 1-31, 2018
Sign up period: Until July 31, 2018
Partner pairings announced: August 1 (announced in this thread)

For FULL details of how the copy cat challenge works, please visit the 'About Copy Cat Challenge' post here...

SUMMARY:
In this challenge, participants are paired up to choose and read a book from their partner's read shelf and compare how they each rated the book. It's a fun way to discover new books, to read from different genre(s), and to make PenPal connections. This challenge repeats monthly, and you sign-up separately for each month you wish to participate.

COMPLETING THE CHALLENGE
- Week 1: Review your paired partner's 'Read shelf' and choose a book(s) to read. Post to this thread to update your partner on the book chosen. (You can ask them for suggestions too!)
- Week 1-4: Begin reading, and post any updates/thoughts as you read.
- Week 3-4: Complete your read, and post to the thread with final thoughts on the book and comparing how you and your partner each rated the book.

Participation = Post to thread (book choice), Read book, Post to thread (finished book thoughts)

NOTE:
- Please only sign-up if you are confident you have time to choose and read a book. If you are no longer able to participate after signing up, message a Mod or update this thread, so we can re-match, and no-one is left without a partner for the month!
- Remember to re-visit this thread on August 1 to see who you have been paired up with for the month (adding a calendar reminder helps!)

Anne ✨ Finds Joy (annefindsjoy) | 718 comments Woohoo, great pairings! And I plan on being a copycat stalker and just jump in and read any of the AWESOME books I know you'll all choose this month :)

message 20: by Amber M. (new)

Amber M. McCarter (mommyultd) | 169 comments Hello, Alamahora!

Looks like we have quite a few books in common. I think I might try The Elephant Vanishes from your shelves... Either that, or The Alchemist, since I've been meaning to read it for ages and just never quite get to it...

message 21: by Chloe (new)

Chloe Reads Books (chloee_matthews) Hello Mihika!
Unfortunately the two books I fancy from your 'Read' shelf aren't available in my library at the moment. I would buy them but I've promised myself I'm not spending any more money on books for a little while!
So I've dipped into your 'Want To Read' and noticed you've got The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time on there. I recently bought myself a copy of this book so I think I'll read this! I am going on holiday for most of August so I will either have to get it done before I leave or speed read it when I get back - but it will get read!
If you need any help with my shelves please give me a shout.

message 22: by Syndi Siahaan (new)

Syndi Siahaan | 122 comments Hi Steph!

I found some books that I've been meaning to read such as The Adventures of Tom Sawyer and Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children. But Tuesdays with Morrie is also interesting. Still haven't decide which one I'll read though. Do you have any suggestions?

message 23: by Ev (new)

Ev | 7 comments Hi, Annie! I think I'll be reading Stargirl this month. :)

message 24: by Ev (new)

Ev | 7 comments Glad to join this challenge! It sounds fun!

message 25: by ☆Joycedale☆ (new)

☆Joycedale☆ | 40 comments Hey Missy! Looking at your shelf we seem to have the same tastes. The one i wanted I'm not able to get so I'm going with Everything, Everything since you gave it 5 stars

message 26: by Zoe (new)

Zoe (zo-ereader) | 490 comments Hi Casey!! We have pretty similar tastes in books! I’ve put 3 from your read shelf on hold at the library and will try to get through at least one! I’ve chosen Eleanor Oliphant is Completely Fine (something Ive wanted to read for a really long time!), The Wife Between Us (I’ve never heard of this one but it sounds really good!) and All the Ugly and Wonderful Things. I’ll let you know which one becomes available first (: Can’t wait! Let me know if you want any recommendations from my read shelf!

message 27: by Анна (new)

Анна Солодянкина | 2 comments Hi Ann! I picked "Garden party and other stories" out of your shelf. I think I'll like it since this book is similar to my favorite genres)))

Hi Mihika!

I haven't heard from you yet but I've already finished The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time! I needed to read it before or after I went on holiday but didn't mean to read it in one morning with no breaks! It was great reading it again from when I was much younger because I got to appreciate it a lot more!

Let me know if you need any help choosing from my shelf!

Chloe

Hi Syndi,
I am happy you found some books from my shelf you want to read.
Out of your 3 I would choose Tom Sawyer or Peculiar Children.

I am about to read The Complete Chronicles of Narnia by C.S. Lewis or Dracula by Bram Stoker .

Glad it was a good read for you! It has been so many years since I read it, I probably should again...

I completely forgot to post here about The Alchemist... I really appreciated its spiritual messages, and it was well enough presented. It also got a 4/5 from me.

I'm still planning to read The Elephant Vanishes as well, but have a couple of others to read first.

message 32: by Kemi (new)

Kemi Hey Mion,

I was scrolling through your read list and was having a hard time finding things to fit into the N.E.W.T.S challenge that I am participating in. However, I saw you read the Book Thief which is on my list of 12 books for 2018 so I shall be reading that this month! I hope I love it :)

I love the Book Thief! I hope you enjoy it!

Zoe (zo-ereader) | 490 comments Wow!
We're a little over a week into August and 8 people have chosen books so far! And 3 people have already finished their books!

Shout out to Alahora, Amber and Chloe!

Feel free to pick a new one and start that (: If not, feel free to continue to chime in on the thread, compare books, whatever!

Ann | 38 comments Hi Ahha!

I've picked The Picture of Dorian Gray from your read shelf.

message 36: by Tiina (new)

Tiina (cauchemarlena) | 371 comments Hey Kemi,

Could you please tell me more about that reading challenge? It's the first I've ever heard of it! I haven't had a chance to properly pick out a book from your shelves yet, but don't worry - I'll definitely finish one by the end of August. I'm currently leaning on When Dimple Met Rishi since I have it as an ebook but if I can find any of your read books in my library, I'll give that a chance. I hope you enjoy The Book Thief!

M.

The N.E.W.T.S challenge sounds SO fun, Kemi! We have lots of Harry Potter fans in our group, so I've created a thread with the task list from Book Roast's O.W.L and N.E.W.T challenge, so anyone who wants to work towards either of them, can now track their progress here:
