I wish I could, my library doesn't have any of Stacey Alabaster's books.

I will buddy read with you Dlyn. I will set up a thread for you and me to discuss this series.

Hi D.L., did you ever read this one? The author's name sounded familiar, so I looked at her list, and I think I read Summer of Fear when I was a kid.

Hi! If anyone is looking for some good fall/winter reads, check out the Collection Group Reads thread: https://www.goodreads.com/topic/group...
The current collection theme was inspired by my interest in reading authors of ethnicities and countries of origin different than my own, and different from those of most mystery authors that I have read over the years. Over the last year or so, I've read several novels by Walter Mosley, Steven Graham Jones, and Keigo Higashino, to great enjoyment. The change in perspective was striking and rather wonderful.
Come take a look at the reads scheduled for the next few months, and join us!

I've added u as a friend, we have a good few in common

Raven Black by Ann Cleeves
Natchez Burning by Greg Iles (long!)
The Red House Mystery by A. A. Milne
The Chestnut Man by Soren Sveistrup (probably not for the faint of heart)
Deadline at Dawn by Cornell Woolrich
Here are 5 more books that I would be just as happy to Buddy Read with someone...but they are weirder choices, in terms of popularity, possibly availability and/or price, and I'm just throwing them out there so I'm going beyond obvious choices:
The Old Woman with the Knife by Byeong-mo Gu
Death on Gokumon Island by Seishi Yokomizo
Dancers in Mourning by Margery Allingham
The Leavenworth Case by Anna Katharine Green
Mildred Pierce by James M. Cain

Okay. Great! I have it already, so it's whenever. But, I would say, I have just started The Turquoise Shop and would prefer to keep going with that - at my speed, I would be done, and be ready for a next book as of, ohhh, Friday the 16th. But then, on the other hand - I'm also fine pushing it off to whatever is convenient for you - for example, if you're thinking of October, that's fine too.
Your thoughts on a start date?...

Okay. I'll see where we stand Thursday-Friday-ish, I guess. But I'll keep in mind that early next week might be best.

Okay, if that's goin' on, thoughts on a start day, or we won't set that just yet?

Cool, okay, I'll check in Friday, which as I say, is pretty much when I'll be choosing a next book. And if that's not great, we got weeks and weeks of Halloween lead-up for a creepy-looking book like this one. Glad I could find a Buddy Read, should be fun.

Yeah, so I'll be reading The Chestnut Man over the weekend too. Looks good!

So I didn't get too much of The Chestnut Man done, I have a lot of other books reads to read so.. I don't think I can keep up with it.

No worries. The fact is, I just finished it. This process has taught me that though my heart was in the right place, I’m probably not a good candidate for buddy reads. I read too fast, and don’t know how to socialize properly, and keep in touch.
The book is great! When you get to it, I hope you love it as much as I did. So, at least I bumped a terrific Crime novel ahead in the schedule.

Im sure you will find someone that reads as fast as you get in touch with the mods and they might be able to help

Do we want to set up a separate place to discuss Death on the Nile as we read it? Might make it easier to follow the discussion.

I will be happy to read Death on the Nile with both of you! I definitely think that it would be easier to set it up at a separate place, Sheri. Is that cool with you alexw?
I set us up a specific place to discuss it. We can start whenever we want. Do we want to wait until February 1st or does everyone have the book and is ready to start?

Hi Lisa! I would like to read The PMS Murder, at any time. I know you like thrillers a lot, but this book is very good.
