It occurred to me during our Buddy Read discussion of Portrait in Death that I have a recall scene for every book that helps me remember the main aspects of the story.

For example, in Glory in Death, it's the scene where Eve goes to Roarke's office following their breakup over the diamond. In Immortal in Death, I have two. The first is the fight between Pandora and Mavis in Leonardo's studio with a naked Eve as referee. The other is when Eve leaves the fashion show wearing a butt contraption that Roarke comments on when they're going to Jerrie's apartment.

You get the picture.

Do you have immediate recall of specific scenes that come to mind when an In Death title is mentioned?

What a great idea! I haven't done that specifically but will sure do it from now on. I can say that one of the scenes for me from Portrait would be Roarke standing outside his aunt's home in Ireland, wishing for Eve and then seeing his own company helicopter swoop down over the cows...and watching Eve walk to him through the mist. Love it!

You know what I remember? Eve seeing Roarke give her that look.

Dawn | 3250 comments Yes, same moment all wrapped up...but the red dress stuck with me. But yea, later she accused him of giving her the look.

LOL Dawn! It would be a fun activity! Be sure to report back with all your fav scenes! :)

Dawn | 3250 comments Oh...yours beats mine Jonetta. I had her in Eve's office telling her she is her momma.

message 13: by Dawn (new)

Dawn | 3250 comments Okay, I have a partial list ready...so many books.

Naked: Coffee on the plane.
Glory: fight/makeup scene when Eve breaks down.
Immortal: Eve telling Roarke she had the day off and was SHOPPING for a wedding dress
Rapture: The closet sex scene
Ceremony: I can't decide between two, they are both equally important. Feeney yelling at Eve because she is hiding things from him/Roarke telling Feeney he is Eve's father in spirit.
Vengeance: Eve and Sommerset fighting and her telling him she's realized he resents her because he wanted Marlena for Roarke.
Holiday: Jamie breaking through Roarke's security system
Midnight: Eve promising to be around for their midnight date

Conspiracy in Death...The moment when Eve leaves Cop Central after they took her badge. I cry every time.

Dawn | 3250 comments Yea, that was mine as well.

message 17: by Kirsten (new)

Kirsten (kmcripn) One of my favorites is when he takes her to Mexico and discovers he hasn't deactivated the cameras.

The scene between Roarke and is it Baxter and Webster?

All the times Roarke's heart goes cold with fear because of Eve.

I'm sure I'll think of others, but I've only had one cup of coffee so far...

message 18: by Sheri (new)

Sheri Morell (smorell22) | 2165 comments Witness in Death when Eve Plans the dinner for Roarke and his sticks his foot in his mouth when he thinks she is up to something.

Divided in Death when Roarke tells Eve about Homeland Security watching and listening while she was being raped and beaten not to mention them cleaning up after she killed her father.

message 23: by Maggie (new)

Maggie | 1576 comments Dawn and Jonetta, I immediately thought of both scenes you mentioned from Innocent. I would also pick the scene in Innocent when Eve says to Roarke that she's afraid he'll look at Maggie then her and realize he's made a mistake. Throughout the series there is a piece of Eve that still doesn't understand why Roarke fell for her.

Oh yes, Maggie. Very touching scene. There is a small part of Eve that wonders why Roarke chose her over more sophisticated, beautiful women.

I've always loved this scene!

Can't remember the scene between Roarke and Webster (?)

From the first book, I always think of the scene where she drinks his coffee in the car on the way to the airport. "Sorry Roarke. This is a private moment. We'll talk on the plane." or something to that effect.

message 41: by Kirsten (new)

Kirsten (kmcripn) Yes, Penni! That is such a perfect moment. (It always makes me wonder what non-real coffee tastes like.)

message 45: by Maggie (new)

Maggie | 1576 comments Another scene from Innocent in Death. When Eve doesn't come from work( she's with Mavis) and Roarke is home waiting and wondering IF she's coming back. He says if she doesn't he'll find her and drag her back where she belongs. This is a different side of Roarke., he is always so sure of his relationship with Eve. For me that's why this scene is so moving, to see him afraid she won't come home.
And when she finally returns and he hugs her and says "God, don't leave me again." I melt every time!

Beeg Panda (beegpanda) | 70 comments I'm listening to the audio of Loyalty in Death (In Death, #9) by J.D. Robb and the scene where Eve, after dealing with the remnants of a bomb blast, (view spoiler), really affected me. It was so well written, so realistic, I actually felt physically creeped out; like tiny yucky creatures were crawling on my arms and legs. Ms Robb is brilliant with words.

That scene (view spoiler) so defines this book. It's so disturbing.
