I thought you kept going this year?... did you drop off the wagon later in the series?

Ha Ha!! We are waiting to start Stormed Fortress on the 23rd this month. Olivia, Daniel and I. We are jumping on board for a re-read. :D

Olivia (vinjii) | 1144 comments Definitely up for a re-read. I’m loving this series and want to see what a second read reveals.

I actually bought book one based on your recommendation, Olivia but haven't read it so far because I was hoping for another BR :)

It's encouraging to see there are people here who love it enough to do a reread so soon :)

You can always trust us to do more Buddy Reads... as the group keeps growing, people need to catch up on all the great books we've found ;)

At this point, i think we can count on 25-50% of all BRs to be repeats... makes it easy to not feel bad if you are too busy to manage a book you want to read eventually when it shows up the first time...

I also got the idea from Olivia.

But the BR for Crown of Stars, there are a group of us that when that series is finished, we want to start this one because we are loving all the vintage classic fantasy series!

I wil request the next two books as well for every two months. I will need that time to find each of them!

Veronica (readingonthefly) | 3613 comments I'll try this again even though I dropped out about mid-way through the first book. I was a bit disappointed in the direction the story seemed to be going but maybe now that I know what to expect it won't matter.

message 19: by Laura (new)

Laura (lauradragonchild) | 6554 comments Just a question everyone. Since I have read the series already and love it to pieces.

Would you like me to post chapter summaries for it the way Scott did with Malazan? To pinpoint some stuff that even I originally missed and other stuff that is important later on? Or perhaps clear up things that seem confusing at first look? I won't be able to make them as good as Scott did because his are absolutely awesome but I could give it a try. So let me know. :)

Lots of Janny Wurts fans around here... have you read all the books in the series?... or just the early ones?

message 23: by Soo (new)

Soo (silverlyn) | 6898 comments I'm stuck on book 7. This one is a matter of I love the characters and that book is a tough one. I figure I'll wrap the series up next year.

Sounds really good to me :) I haven't read Malazan yet, so I can only imagine how helpful it will be :)

If you wouldn't mind doing this, I think it would be fantastic. We've got quite a big group starting the series and extra guidance is always appreciated <3

I second that.

message 29: by Choko (new)

Choko (chokog) | 12597 comments I second that too... I am going to be here, since I fell off the wagon this year...

message 30: by jess (new)

jess (nu6586) | 1729 comments Laura that would be fabulous!

Only if you have the time though. If not, we can figure it out!

message 31: by Laura (new)

Laura (lauradragonchild) | 6554 comments That's a deal then! :) I'll have them done. :):)

I'll just reserve two comments for them once I start and maybe Iain could add a link to them in his comment as that's the first.
Or should we make a separate thread with chapter summaries for the entire series?
Which would be better?

message 32: by Anni (new)

Anni | 5066 comments Or Iain, Bea, Olivia and Jenna could delete their posts so your two posts will be be second and third? :)

message 33: by Laura (new)

Laura (lauradragonchild) | 6554 comments Now that I think about it, I am honestly not sure if I will need only 2 comments or more. It depends on the number of characters we are allowed to post in one comment I guess.

There are 18 chapters and 1 prologue so 19 summaries in total, as the prologue requires one of it's own.

Would 1 summary per comment be more comfortable?

message 34: by Bea (new)

Bea | 2050 comments Then an extra thread would probably be best.
I think it should not be more than 2 summaries per comment.

message 35: by Jenna, I'd be free if not for Temper & Edgewalker (new)

Jenna Kathleen (jennakathleen) | 5178 comments Mod
I agree with Bea - that is probably easiest.

message 36: by Graeme (new)

Graeme Rodaughan I have this book in paperback and I have scheduled it in to my reading lists.

Graeme Rodaughan This will be one of the few BRs I do this year.

message 43: by Daniel (new)

Daniel | 1534 comments Are you going to do the whole series or just this one book?

message 44: by jess (new)

jess (nu6586) | 1729 comments Whole series! One every two months!

message 45: by Graeme (new)

Graeme Rodaughan I'll see how I go after this first book.

message 46: by jess (new)

jess (nu6586) | 1729 comments Love to have you around, Graeme!

message 47: by Daniel (new)

Daniel | 1534 comments @ Graeme- This series did not grab me until the third book. Not saying you will have the same experience, but this is an EPIC series. The scope and depth is fairly unreal. Janny calls this her magnum opus and it is easy to see why. It is a difficult read in some ways, but at the end of the day, a very worthwhile journey. Just my two cents lol.

message 48: by Graeme (new)

Graeme Rodaughan Hi Jess, & Daniel, thanks for the support. I look forward to reading it.

message 49: by Laura (new)

Laura (lauradragonchild) | 6554 comments Hi everyone. When are you planning to start this and how is the reading schedule? Are you aiming for a chapter a day, more or less? Just to see how much time I have for those chapter summaries?

Speaking of chapter summaries, for each Chapter set the summary would be around 5 doc pages long (with Times New Roman 12). That is including all extra explanations and quoted phrases/paragraphs. Would you all be willing to read them if they are that long? Because if not, I'll have to think of an alternate method to simply point out the important stuff.

So let me know please.

message 50: by Daniel (new)

Daniel | 1534 comments I will read what you write Ma’am.
