Sarah’s patient is an Irishwoman, Cora Lee, married to a Chinese man. Were you aware of the federal regulations that created the phenomenon where these type interracial marriages evolved in the late 19th century?

Charlene (charlenethestickler) | 1392 comments No, this took me completely by surprise.

Me, too, Charlene. I’d never even heard of the Chinese Exclusion Act, let alone how normal it appeared to be for these interracial marriages.

Robin (robinmy) | 1214 comments That was something I didn't know. I love how the author includes bits of history in her stories.

So do I Robin.

Lauren (laurenjberman) | 2240 comments I learned a great deal about life for the Chinese immigrants from this story. It was eye opening.
