People kept confessing to murders they didn’t commit in this story. If this had been any other policeman than Frank, do you think they would have taken the time to prove them wrong?

Charlene (charlenethestickler) | 1392 comments No. I think, from the way the NYC police are portrayed at the time (and I have no reason to doubt the author's word and research), that the police might have locked them all up and thrown away the keys.

Wholeheartedly agree, Charlene! Frank has developed a thirst for the truth these days.

Robin (robinmy) | 1214 comments They were lucky they were confessing to Frank and not another cop.

I loved how the family members kept confessing to cover for someone else. That was one of my favorite parts.

After awhile, it just got funny.

Lauren (laurenjberman) | 2240 comments Any other officer would have ignored these "confessions" and Harry would have been convicted and executed before he could blink.

Unfortunately, I think you are right.
