Lance Morcan | 3058 comments Excerpt from The Orphan Conspiracies: 29 Conspiracy Theories from The Orphan Trilogy:

The bulk of Asia’s wealth wasn’t the only treasure that contributed to Yamashita’s booty. Great Britain inadvertently contributed also.

Britain’s little known link with the treasure dates all the way back to Hitler’s rise in the 1930’s. Fearing Germany was going to invade the UK, it’s believed Britain shipped the bulk of its gold reserves – including the Royal Family’s massive stockpile – to Singapore, which was under British rule at the time. When Singapore abruptly fell to the Japanese in 1942, Britain lost almost all its gold supplies overnight.

It has been asserted that Britain’s lost bullion never made it to Japan either and was instead buried in the Philippines along with the treasures from all the other Asian countries.

Paul Sayers With reference to the other thread on MacArthur's Philippine gold, perhaps it was in the sea off the islands around the Philippines were the treasure was buried, as described. But still, that only leads us to 1944, with only a 2 year window to deposit gold, and why would the Japanese keep most of the stolen gold so far away in a war zone? The home islands of Japan were viewed as being beyond the reach of invasion, it was unthinkable.

Some generals may have secreted their skimmings - but the bulk would have been tagged as the Emperor's own?

James Morcan | 11378 comments legend has it the Japanese couldn't get most of the gold back to Japan as this was late in WWII and the Allies were now controlling most of the trading routes in the waters around Japan. Originally it was all being stored in the Philippines first (as geographically it was one of the closest Japanese-occupied nations to Japan).
but then when the Allies started winning the war the Japanese rightly assumed it'd be too risky to attempt to transport the treasure hoard in subs to Japan. And then finally, when they started to lose control of the Philippines the generals buried the treadures all over that nation.

Paul Sayers Sounds reasonable ---

The story I heard was maritime - and ended in Japan. China is close to Japan, close to Korea (Manchuria in those days, right up until 1945). Relatively secure railway lines (there were guerilla attacks) and secure deep water port at Port Arthur (present day Dalian). There was little fighting up north of there until the very end of the war when the Russians came down from the north into the northernmost islands of what was then Japan (peace treaty with Japan still not signed).

Marcos and his lady would have found enough gold in the Philippines to buy up large, for sure.

But it was the greater hoard, evenly divided between MacArthur and the Japanese that funded the post-war Japanese Economic Miracle and the American moon shots.

The Americans still have a penchant for pilfering. Do you remember the Spanish hoard off the coast of Spain lifted by the Americans under protest of the Spanish government a few years ago? Around the time of the American economic collapse, was it?

Speaking of gold. All those golden teeth ripped from the victims of the holocaust. Never discovered.

When Ike Eisenhower ran for President of the USA (a nominally Protestant country, founded by the Protestant Pilgrims) who visited Rome and was blessed by the Pope.

Looking up the meaning of "blessed" one discovers that it means "help"

A cashed up cowboy Eisenhower (son of a catholic bootleg gangster) bought himself the US Presidency, yehaa!
