I'm not sure, Joel. What do you expect to get from a Facebook group that you don't get from this and other Goodreads groups?
Like many people I'm becoming very angry with Facebook practices. I'm more likely to quit FB in the near future than to become more dependent on it.
On the other hand, I have been singularly unsuccessful in getting IRL friends and family to join and actually participate in Goodreads. And I would like to have a vehicle to share books and book opinions with them. I'm just not sure Facebook is it.

Despite my dislike for Facebook, I do sometimes post my reviews there on my timeline, just so my friends will know what I'm reading.

Totally on the same page as you on both accounts. I really hate Facebook's practices (I've been put on "Facebook jail" once for posting a painting in an art group that included "nudity").
However, I find the conversations on Facebook to be more "real time" and the back-and-forth much longer and deeper. And as you've said, I can't get some of my friends to actually join Goodreads and engage. Some have joined, but don't go on much.
Both Facebook and Goodreads have their purposes and o try to use both (and good old in person interaction, of course).

True. I really can't stand Facebook. I would quit it if I can ;)
But I am part of several book groups and each has a good 10-50 posts a day. In most Goodreads groups, I'm lucky if I get one or two notifications a day.
I've always found it annoying on facebook that all the book groups are all about novels, and not history or other non-fiction books.
Therefore, I've started the following Facebook group dedicated to serious non-fiction books.
I'm trying to grow the membership to a critical mass, so please join if you'd like.
