Excerpt:
He reaches his destination suddenly. A massive castle, set half into the mountainside. There are no doors, only a large archway leading to dank darkness. Black moss and lichen cover old drawings and writings about the archway. With the surety of a mountain lion, Loki stalks into the darkness.

Progress: Outline of parts 6-9, plus a completed draft of Part 2 (set to post on Saturday)

For whatever reason, I'm having a really hard time establishing a proper chilly atmosphere. Or maybe it's just me because I've pored over it a handful of times already. Either way, I want to tweak it a bit before I stamp it "DONE".

Excerpt: Pt 5
You raise your eyebrows. “Are you a vampire, too?”
“No, I’m not.” Loki chuckles. He takes a few bites of his food. “Do you have any questions before I introduce you tonight?”
“I’d just like to know what I’m dealing with. What type of vampire is he? Is he physical, or the vaporous kind, what does he feed on…?” You trail off and make small circles with your utensil, unsure how to wrangle your questions into order.
Loki is silent for a few moments. “I’m not entirely sure myself,” he admits. He eyes you as if weighing his options. Slowly, he says, “Vampirism may be different here than it is where we came from.”
“It’s different all over the world. Where are you guys from?”
Loki is silent and has his head down for so long, you almost wonder if he’s nodded off. At last, he says, “Perhaps later. I would rather not scare you off just yet.” He gives a sardonic smile and continues eating.
Excerpt: Pt 6
You’re reading in the library when a bone-shuddering howl begins. You jump, heart pounding, unable to tell if the sound is coming from inside or out.
Hastily, you go to the library window. A heavy fog lays over the land. Eyes blink in and out of existence, and large shadows move through the fog.

Word/page count: 1,553 (counted towards Nano rebellion word count)
Progress: Part 7, https://marlenesimonetteauthor.blogsp...
Idk why the link says part 6, but idk how to change it either, so... :P
Excerpt:
Loki’s been gone for nearly a week. You can’t go into the basement alone, not if you want to be certain of getting out alive. But then, how much of a chance do you stand if the wolves make it inside?

Word/page count: 988 (counted towards Rebellion)
Progress: Part 8, https://marlenesimonetteauthor.blogsp...
Excerpt:
“Odin’s beard, what now?” He rises, an offensive spell readied and glowing in his hand. The girl wanders in the hall, eyes half closed. “Oh, a somnambulist. Wonderful.” He disarms the spell and carefully approaches her.

Progress: Part 9, rough draft

Snippet:
The man addresses Loki. “Who is this? You said you were alone.”
“I’m a habitual liar,” Loki says easily. “It gets worse when unexpected guests decide to threaten me in my own home.”

Word count: 1144 (counted towards Rebellion)
Progress: Part 10, https://marlenesimonetteauthor.blogsp...
Excerpt:
“I will bring her upstairs.” Loki takes the girl from Thor. Before he can take two steps, she’s whimpering. Another step, and she’s calling for Thor in a panic. A step more, and she’s shrieking and clawing at Loki’s face.
Loki practically tosses her back to Thor. She quiets as soon as she’s in his arms. “Odin’s beard, what did you do to her?!” He dabs at a few deep scratches on his cheek.
“I told you, I don’t know!” Thor glances at the girl’s neck, licking his lips. “Though perhaps it has something to do with the fact that I’ve fed from her?”

Alright, hoping to get this story going regularly again.
Word/page count: 2 pages
Progress: Outline for a couple different Parts, plus an overall story arc outline to keep me grounded (I've got soooo many side plots I could work into this, cuz it's set in Convoluted Chronicles)

Potential candidates:
Living Nightmare
Haunted by Choice
Vampires, Dragons, and Immortals (potentially with Oh My! tacked to the end)
Corrupted by Another
Oops or My Mistake
Be Wary of Strangers
Any titles in particular stand out to you? Let me know!

Progress: Part Twelve, rough draft/first part
Doing a part in Thor’s POV, not quite sure how I want to depict this struggle with the vampiric side, so I’m messing with a few things.
Snippet:
He laughs. “Did you trap us on Jotunheim, brother?”
A sharp wind, whisking away his laughter, is the only answer.
“Where am I?” He mutters to a pile of rocks vaguely reminiscent of a biped, trying to recall. “I remember doing this before. Waking, finding it hard to remember. Loki. He’s normally here. But where…is here? Not Asgard. Not after Hela…” Memories begin flitting back into his mind, as difficult to grasp as an adolescent bilgesnipe. “Oh. Odin’s beard, I died.”
He stares numbly into the sky. “Father? Heim…Heimdal? Can you hear me?”

The top two were Living Nightmare and Be Wary of Strangers. I've decided on the latter, as the whole thing begins with not being wary of strangers, and things tend to escalate when strangers come to call. :P
What do y'all think of this first attempt at a banner?

Ah, thanks. :D
Took me forever to find a font color that didn't either pop too much, or blend into the background...

Word/page count: 126
Progress: Well, I got a couple paragraphs written... XP
Grr, I’d been wanting to do this bi-monthly, on Tuesdays/Thursdays, but I never seem to be able to find/make time when I need it... (other writing projects take priority, alas, as this is fanfic).
Anyone else have scheduled things they post on their blogs that aren’t stories? I’ve skimmed other blogs I follow, and they seem to have a mix of life stuff and writing stuff. But I’d rather not post about life stuff because a) I’m not really comfortable shouting about my life into the blogosphere/‘Net and b) my life is boring. :P

For my blog it's more of a "whatever I'm feeling like" because I still don't have a specific schedule that I'm posting. 😂

Hmm, ‘Kay. I’ve been kicking around featuring reviews...
Thanks for the ideas!

Yeah, but when I talk with people I haven’t talked to in three plus years, I have literally nothing new to tell them (okay not literally nothing, maybe one or two things, but that’s it). XD

Snippet:
Everything around him is leveled. There’s ash. Everywhere. Flitting through the air like snowflakes. Sifting beneath his boots like sand. Distant trees flicker with fire.

I love fire descriptions. They're always hauntingly beautiful, no matter what.

Progress: rough draft of Part 14 done. It’s from Loki’s POV, but I’m thinking about nixing this as a scene and just keeping it for my notes, and switch back over to the second person POV. Part 13 is written, I just need to go over it a couple times.
Probably won’t be able to start this up again regularly for a while; still working on Renewal of Spirit and hoping to get it done by the end of the year, but I had to write something for this project today because it’s AUTUMN. And nothing screams Autumn/Fall like Victorian/Fantasy/Vampires. <3

Awesome, Merenwen! And I agree on the fact that vampires are for fall ;)

Part 13: https://marlenesimonetteauthor.blogsp...
Sooo I'm adding another WIP to my list... :P
Inspired by these fanfics.
https://fanfic-collection.tumblr.com/...
I've been wanting to practice writing in 2nd person for a while now, but the only place I've really seen it (and thus thought it would work in) is in twist-a-plots (AKA choose-your-own-adventure, choose-your-story, etc.). The few twist-a-lot type stories I've tried writing all flopped, and I haven't really touched the POV since.
Then I came across the fanfics and wanted to try something similar. :D
I'm using the fanfics as a sort of launching point. However, I'm going to make changes. For example, Thor is going to be the vampire, "you" are going to be a bit more lore-savvy, and I'm going to be using some of my own characters (mostly from my Tales from a Modern Bard challenges, but who knows others may try to intrude).
Things might get a tad steamy (cuz vampires), but what little there is will be short and not very detailed. I don't like reading that stuff, I don't like writing it. :P
I'm planning on posting them to my blog eventually, but for now I'm going to stick with handwriting. Gotta use up all my notebooks so I can buy more. ;)
Oh, and the premise of the story:
Thor's dead. Loki missed him so much he decided to turn him into a vampire. Now Loki needs to find a caretaker for his brother...and you seem desperate enough to take the job.
