Ron Scheer | 13 comments I don't order books. Unless there e-books of course. I'm strictly a store buyer. Even if the store doesn't have it, I have them order it and then pick it up there. I'm wondering if I'm missing something by not ordering books.

thoughts???

I primarily order books from Amazon.com.. I don't love their site plus they've jinxed/messed me up a couple times.

I occassionally shop on bookoutlet.com and B&N.com.

Rae King (abookishgirl4) | 36 comments I'm a Barnes and noble member so I can get cheaper online prices for new releases, but someone from goodreads told me about thriftbooks.com and its the best thing that ever happened to me!! good condition used books for dirt cheap and free shipping in the U.S. so now I get 3 books for what I used to pay for 1!!!

Some books I order in from the local library, some from the local bookshop and the rest from Amazon. It varies really but actually a lot of the books I read are either birthday/christmas presents or someone in my family already owns them in which case I will just borrow it from them.

Angela Dossett (whisperingwillo) | 94 comments Since I've gotten my Kindle, I usually just get ebooks. It helps me out a lot, because there is only one book store in my area and it takes about 30 to 40 minutes to get there due to traffic. I have ordered ebooks from Amazon, Barnes and Nobles, and Kobo. I wouldn't have enough space in my home for all the books I want. I'm happy with the stores above and constantly looking for more sites.

message 6: by Irene (new)

Irene (raenne) I use either Wordery, Bookdepository or amazon marketplace from wordery or bookdepository. That's the cheapest for me

I have ordered from Amazon, Barnes and Noble, and Book Outlet.

My grandma sometimes gets books for me from Ebay.

message 8: by Nikita (last edited Aug 15, 2014 11:46AM) (new)

Nikita 95% of the time I get my books from Amazon. But there were times I bought books from Barnes & Noble and Hastings because I was in the store at the time and I saw a book I wanted.

Well I'm never using Book Outlet again. They are trying to tell me that it's my fault that they charged me for a book they didn't have.

They confirmed the order and charged me, so I'm angry. And now the book is showing up as a scratch and dent. I think they dropped it and figured they would try to sell it again.

Jasna Nickells | 20 comments I usually get them from Waterstones but I have a kindle so get them from amazon I suppose.

haha me too! But as long as you get them in 'very good' or 'like new' condition, they are great!

Connie (proseandconnie) | 16 comments Has anyone here ordered from The Book Depository? I'm considering it because it has free worldwide shipping and just wanted to check if anyone had any feedback :)

I think Irene said that she does. She's got a post up there somewhere.

message 15: by Irene (new)

Irene (raenne) @Connie I have. A lot of times. I've never had any problems, I once got a book that didn't look too good, so they just send me a new one

message 16: by Guy Vestal (new)

Guy Vestal - Counter Culture Critic (DaddyRose) Amazon, so I can also review them there as a verified buyer. OOP I get from Ebay.

message 17: by Rav Grewal (new)

Rav Grewal (r_grewal) I nearly always buy my book from waterstones :)

Waterstones is a book selling branch in the UK :)

Kuromi | 4 comments I get most of my books from the library. I mean, FREE books! Can't get much better than that.

But when I do buy books, it's from Books-a-Million. I always spend too much money when I go in there...

I've never heard of them either...

message 21: by Laura (new)

Laura (blueeyebooks) | 11 comments I mostly get ebooks from Amazon for my kindle. Otherwise, I either buy hardcovers from Amazon or Barnes and Noble. I've looked at The Book Depository but it seems so expensive compared to other sites even with the free shipping.

message 22: by Irene (new)

Irene (raenne) @Laura - Really? Where do you live?

message 23: by Laura (new)

Laura (blueeyebooks) | 11 comments The US

message 24: by Irene (new)

Irene (raenne) That must be why. It's more than half price than Danish books. It's more like 1/4 of the price on Danish books..

Laura (blueeyebooks) | 11 comments Oh wow yeah. Lucky duck!

message 26: by Irene (new)

Irene (raenne) Haha :) Yeah. So I'm pretty excited that The Book Depository ships for free! :D

message 27: by Laura (new)

Laura (blueeyebooks) | 11 comments xD that is really nice! Whenever I order from Amazon, I'm always surprised about how much shipping costs now.

I always order three books at a time to get free standard shipping.

Kind of. As long as the order from Amazon (not the MarketPlace) is $35 or more, it qualifies for free shipping. I usually get there with three books.

You're pretty lucky. I've had brand new books arrive damaged or they charged me the wrong prices. They even yelled at me when I called customer service when they wrongly charged me for overnight shipping when I chose standard. I just order from them because they have the best prices for now...

My sister's ex just got a job with them, and there are some major changes going on. I'm not sure what he'll be doing, but he said he'd keep her updated.

I do know that their prices won't be the cheapest for much longer. They are planning on stocking very few copies of books and charging full prices, so I am trying to order as many as I can until the changes start.

Been using them for years, and have Prime, so everything is free two day shipping, and they have not missed a step for years. I too have had multiple full and partial refunds (keeping the product), just on dissatisfaction alone.

My local news team investigated Amazon Prime, and the only people who really benefit from it are people who own their own businesses or college students. I'm sure that the fee would pay for itself with me with free shipping, but I always qualify for it, so it's not worth it.

Yeah. I hope a lot of the publishers kind of stick it to them. Amazon is just going to go downhill if it happens. It's already happened with one major publisher, and it makes me angry. Like I love being able to get discounted books like that. Oh well. I guess Target is the next best thing.

I think it's fairly new. I also think Barnes and Noble does it too.
