Those are cute.

Happy Thanksgiving to those who celebrate!
Lets vote on a team name
Three's a Reading Crowd or Three’s a Literary Crowd?
I vote for Three;s a Reading Crowd

Seriously, series?
1. The first book of a series.
2. Each member must finish a saga, trilogy, etc. (must start and finish within the time frame!) - This can be all different series for each person on the team, it just needs to be a series with more than three books. Remember - the longer the series, the more points, pages and books you rack in! This one is HARD so you get to add an additional 50 points to the team total, not just 10.
- Genre Based
1. A book from a genre you do not normally read from and CANNOT be a Fiction novel (i.e. sic-fi, fantasy, memoirs, self-help, etc.)
2. Read a Self-Help, or Personal Growth book
3. Read a comic book or graphic novel
- Buddy System
1. Read a book recommended by another person participating in the games! (Team member has to be one that is participating in the race, but does not need to be on your team though!)
2. Team Read! Read a book as a group. This can be through the entire race and not everyone has to read it at the same time - JUST needs to be completed before the race ends to get the bonus.
- C&B Related
1. Read a book where the title starts with a letter in COFFEE AND BOOKS.
2. Each member must read a book as a group (same book!) from Coffee & Books archived BOTM's (hint: check out the groups bookshelf) - BOOK MUST BE FROM 2017 AND PAST (2018 DOES NOT COUNT)

100 pages to 499 pages: 1 point
500 pages to 999 pages: 2 points
1,000 and plus pages: 3 points
The Point System - Obstacle Books
Triple the amount of points for the book. So if it is a 3 point book, and it lands in as an obstacle book - it will be 9 points.
If the entire team completes the obstacle, the leader will add 10 points to the overall team score. Please note: The members personal score will remain the same (tripling the book point) but the total team score will get an additional ten points added to it once everyone completes that obstacle.

Hope you are all doing well. Team totals have been updated for the week.
Lets throw out some ideas on what we would like to do for a team read!

I didn’t count it in my book total but not even the pages? It was still pages read...
Hi y'all - made an adjustment to the "series obstacle" since a really great question popped up. See below:
2. Each member must read at least three books from a series, you must start and finish within the time frame of the games! This can be all different series for each person on the team, it just needs to be a series with at least three books. Note: You DO NOT have to start this challenge with book one of the series. For example, if you read Harry Potter you can had book there, four and five count for the "at least three books" - and just a hint, read a series with at least four books, use the first book to mark off the first obstacle, and the last three to mark off this obstacle ;-) This one is HARD so you get to add an additional 50 points to the team total, not just 10.

Read a book as a group from Coffee and Books archives.
Also team read book. It appears this can be any book, we just all need to read it at some point during the games.
I'm up for just about anything as long as it's not difficult to get.

That’s great idea :)
I second Joy’s pick because it’s the only Jane Austen book I haven’t read lol.

Then we still need another group read that can be anything. Not sure what everyone likes to read but I'll suggest Something in the Water by Catherine Steadman. I've had it on hold at the library for a couple months and it just became available.

I'm up for that. I can order books to my library from any library in the country so I can get my hands on most books.

Could you all provide some recommended titles, as well?
Thanks!

If it has to be a book I read this year...then I’m afraid I only have TWO recommendations! (2018 was a hideous year.)

If it doesn’t...then here are my absolute favorite books:

Happy Holidays! I have updated our team totals. Way to go! We are awesome!
It looks like our two group reads are: Northanger Abbey by Jane Austen and Something in the Water by Catherine Steadman. Has anyone started reading either one?

There There by Tommy Orange There There
Pachinko by Min Jin Lee Pachinko
Behold the Dreamers by Imbolo Mbue Behold the Dreamers
When Breath Becomes Air by Paul Kalanithi When Breath Becomes Air
Team of Rivals by Doris Kearns GoodwinTeam of Rivals: The Political Genius of Abraham Lincoln
Angels in My Hair by Lorna Byrne Angels In My Hair

Our group is pretty quiet so I thought I'd just pop it to say hi. I have finished both of the group reads (Northanger Abbey and Something in the Water) and I'm working on some of my other personal obstacles.
Happy reading and Happy Thursday!

I read Something in the Water and I really enjoyed it because it had an interesting storyline and really great but contrasting characters. Why did she turn on the phone?!! Her instincts were telling her too.
Best of luck with your reading.

Yay! I hope you enjoy it. I did.
