Sara If anyone has a spreadsheet or other tool for the 2019 challenge that they would like to share with the group you can post them here.

***PLEASE NOTE: If you access someone's Google Sheet, please save it as a new copy in your own Google Drive before you start to edit the sheet. Otherwise your edits copy over the originator's sheet.

Sara I use a variation on this one that was posted by Book Riot last year. It gives you automatic stats based on the tracking info you enter. I also added a new tab to my sheet with the specific prompts for Popsugar.

Kacey | 60 comments So I have a spreadsheet with 7 tabs. 2 are the Blank Master copies.

If anyone wants to use mine feel free. Just make a copy.

The tabs are:

Calendar- I used this to show how many books i read each week quickly so i could answer the weekly sign ins here.

Books Read - This is my master list of books i've read this year. Its set up by month. At the bottom it keeps track of totals: # of books, # of books for challenges, # of NEW to me books, and Page #s.

Popsugar 2018 This is pretty simple its just a sheet with Finished, Prompt, Title, Author and Date. At the bottom it has 2 counters, Finished Original Goals and Finished Advanced Goals.

Popsugar Suggestions 2018 - This is were i put ideas for promts so i dont forget what i might want to read.

Popsugar 2019 exactly like the 2018 but with the 2019 prompts.

MASTERCOPY this is my book list mastercopy. its got all the same counters as my books read but i have played with what order i enter info.

Popsugar MASTERCOPY its got the counters set up but not prompts

Thats all i have on this shreadsheet for now, i might add a 2019 suggestions for popsugar, or if i decide on any other challenges (other then the AMMP Group that has its own spreadsheet with a million tabs)

But like i said feel free to make a copy.

Molly (prestidigitation) | 6 comments I use a modified version of the Book Riot spreadsheet for my reading log: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/...

Tabs:
1. Countdown until 2019 (mostly to remind myself that there's still plenty of time left in 2018)

2. Tracking, where all info about the books can be entered

3. Ratings, where I enter my highly subjective scores for books

4. Results, which aside from a few deletions is mostly unchanged from the Book Riot original sheet

5-7. Challenge tabs for Read Harder, Popsugar, and ideas for Popsugar

Under source, I noticed ARC; what does that stand for?

Kerry (euphemy) | 210 comments Thank you all for posting. I saved myself a copy. Very nice!

message 8: by Molly (new)

Molly (prestidigitation) | 6 comments Hi Kerry,
ARC stands for Advance Readers Copy. It's a version of a book usually distributed by the publisher before its actual release date either to book reviewers or via sites like NetGalley.

Thanks so much, Kacey! I used the heck out of your 2018 spreadsheet and am delighted you are sharing a new one!

Thats so great to hear. I'm glad you got use out of it. It was the first time i made a spreadsheet. I started with a base that some one else had made and then played around with it and added thing i felt i needed.

Since then i've become addicted to making spreadsheets. This one has nothing to do with Popsugar but its for my reading challenges on AMMP. https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/...

Thanks for sharing your spreadsheet, I really like the layout. I am sure that I will put it to good use this coming year.

message 18: by KaalAmba (new)

KaalAmba (amba1sfr) | 9 comments Yay! Just saw this was out, and I'm so excited. I actually finished this year's list on the day the new one came out... November 12th :)

For anyone that may be interested, here's my spreadsheets. The first tab is "representation matters" where I track books for how diverse my reading is (currently tracking on gender, POC, LGBTQ+, differently abled, and non US-reads).

Challenges tabs include all challenges I'm attempting (currently PopSugar and Book Riot) with lots of space for options!

message 19: by Maryjo (new)

Maryjo Laupp (moj8668) | 14 comments ARC usually stands for "Advance Reader Copy". It means that you were asked to read and (usually) review the book before it was officially released to the public. Got a chance to do this a couple of times this past year and it's really cool!

message 20: by Tracy (new)

Tracy (tracyisreading) | 608 comments I got a chance last year to read and review an ARC of Lisa See's The Tea Girl of Hummingbird Lane. I was so excited.

Thank you for sharing! I love the organization and calendar you've made. So useful!

message 23: by John (new)

John | 79 comments If anybody would like to use my template, it's what i used for this year's challenge. All you have to do is put in the title, author, and page count next to the corresponding challenge prompt and then the document computes: the total number of pages you'll read for the challenge, the average number of pages you should read per day to complete the challenge, it will show you what today's date is, how many days left of the challenge, and the deadline date. Once you finish a book if you move it to the bottom section of the document it will compute the total number of pages you've read so far, show you the reading goal (that you can change as you see fit), how many books you need to read to be on schedule, her completion percentage of your challenge, how many books you read so far, and how many books that you're ahead/behind to complete your goal. There is also two extra figures in there that I use as I'm doing this challenge and the 104 book challenge. If you have any questions feel free to msg me:

https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/...

message 30: by Ruth (new)

Ruth Lanton (ruthla8) | 177 comments Last year, I just used "copy and paste" from one of the threads here where somebody had listed all the prompts, with numbers.

I then put that into a word processor document, "outline style" and indented with the book I read for the prompt (or planned to read) and the date I read it.

If I was considering more than one book for the prompt, and/or more than one prompt for the book, I'd highlight both potential prompts with the same color, then I'd delete the highlighting when I'd definitely selected which book for which prompt. I also had a different color for "I've picked out the book but not read it yet". I'm flexible with the highlighting as the year goes by. When I'm close to the end, I highlight (in bright yellow) the prompts I still need to fill, but I don't generally do that earlier in the year.

In any case, I've never used a fancy spreadsheet or anything- just a simple typed list of the prompts. I save one copy with no extra information, to easily print out the list of prompts. I make the annotations to the copy I keep saved on my computer. I also generally have simpler copy in Notebad so I can open it on my phone (though I should check if regular documents can open okay on my current phone- I may be able to skip that step this year.)

At first, I'd find the prompt list in a graphic form and have to type it all up myself. Last year I'd found it typed up neatly at the beginning of one (or more?) threads about the challenge, and I easily copied and pasted from that. I'll look in a few minutes to see if that's been done yet this year. If not, I'll type up the damn thing myself and copy and paste it in a new comment here in case it helps anybody else.

The list is in the planning thread, no need to type it out yourself.

What's the AMMP group?

message 37: by Kacey (new)

Kacey | 60 comments AMMP is a goodreads challenge/game group. it stands for a million more pages.
We have challenges/games that last a month or 12 months. Some are solo and some you are placed in groups. This doesnt mean you have to read the same book just that you have the same task/prompt to work from. An example is our genre of the month challenge. It's easy to play - simply read a book that has a MP Genre or is tagged with the genre of the month.

your prize for doing any of the challenges are badges.
description I got that one for playing a solo game called Animals Gone Spooky. The task to earn it was : Read a book with a cat or wings on the cover OR read a book with a dark cover.

I find it a lot of fun and it keeps me motivated to keep reading. (i like earning badges)

Caitlin (richarcc) | 2 comments Hi, I'm new here and I wanted to share a printable that we are using in our office to track our books for the challenge. We have a big bulletin board we will be posting our lists on. I used the same theme/colors/header from Popsugar but left room to write in some information.

It's legal size to fit all of the prompts and leave room for a little extra.

Hope you like it!

I might actually print it up and hang it on my refrigerator.

message 45: by Caity (new)

Caity (adivineeternity) | 164 comments I've decided to add 2018 and 2019 to this spreadsheet I made a couple years ago with all challenges on it. I'm gonna give POPSUGAR another go, I think, but because I'm me and need my freedom, I'm allowing myself to choose from other years' prompts, as well, to see how many I can read next year. I'm slow and easily distracted, so probably, like, 3.5 before I forget to update for 2.5 years, but whatever.

Mine is super simple, with places for author, genre, title, page count (and a page counter at the bottom), etc.
