Turns out Ruth, Alex’s assistant, was the NSA leak. Was she on your suspect list? Who else did you think might be the leak? Do you believe she had other alternatives?

Laura She wasn't a suspect until she was freaking out about her interview,Thats when I figured it was her.

Anita (anitanodiva) | 849 comments The Assistant was on my list, for sure. I just had no idea how they were using her. If not her, then someone who hacked their system. She should have reported the contact the very first time. They could have been gotten out without any problem.

She was my guess from the last book discussion and I never let her go. The only other person would have been Alex and that didn’t make sense.

Ruth knew how formidable her boss and his team were and should have immediately neutralized that threat. I understand her fear but she also should have known they’d kill her family anyway. I’m not sympathetic as she was willing to let others die with her help.

Laura Did she bring brownies out of guilt? She mothered them to their faces but behind their backs she set them up.

Laura, I’d forgotten about that and it’s an important point. What the hell was that all about? Was she trying to appease her own guilt? That makes what she did more insidious.

I know I might sound cold but she needs to rot in jail.

Alex was too soft on her I thought when he went to confront her. She should have been cuffed and hauled out of there.

Yes, he was. But, I think his heart was broken, too.

Anita (anitanodiva) | 849 comments Agree. I think Alex was sad, angry, disappointed and totally upset that she didn't trust him to protect her and her family.

Charlene (charlenethestickler) | 1392 comments I'm there with all of you on this one. A traitor who routinely makes brownies? I was thinking she might have poisoned the last batch or something like that.... weird.

Karen ♐ (kmk1214) | 101 comments I did wonder why, if she had worked for Alex all those years, she didn't trust him enough to confide in him what they wanted her to do. I didn't suspect her until later on. I also think Alex was really sad and hurt that it was her.
