My review:
So much better than the prior in the series. Alleyn is still in New Zealand and this time investigates an unsolved murder on a sheep ranch. Excellent setting, pleasant family, and an interesting plot. The characters' different opinions of the murdered woman were presented reasonably naturally and I felt I knew her, and her deceased husband, quite well. A satisfying read.

Only 100 pages of a 300 page book take place in Japan. Sigh. Still an excellent read (I'm not done).
Too bad, the spirit of Japan in 1924 was captured wonderfully.

The bulk of story takes place in Transylvania, Romania. It also introduces European royals and politics.
Yeah, pretty much all of it save for the very beginning takes place in Romania. I used that book too. Kudos to finding a book that takes place in Iraq. I'll have to remember that one.

My review: One of the best Poirot's. Excellent plot, characters and setting. Christie knew Egypt. David Suchet, the narrator, goes a bit over-the-top with some of the accents.

It may be because I listened to this on a day I wasn't feeling well, but I was very disappointed. I thought the resolution came out of the blue and at least one romantic element was unbelievable.

Only a so-so read for me. Lots of history of St. Lucia which was interesting for a while but was presented rather heavy-handedly. I may have been more invested in the main characters if I read the series from the beginning.
The mystery itself was interesting.
My status:While I am thrilled to have explored a 6th region there is no way I can reach eleven more countries before the end of the year, so I continue to aim for Adventurer. I need one more country!
Too bad our October author only does Great Britain.

Another so-so read: nothing really wrong with it but I never connected with the characters. Maybe they are just too pleasant.
I have now officially an Adventurer! I expect to explore more countries before year end.
I never did explore another country so will end an Adventurer with 6 regions and 15 countries. What a fun trip around the world. Thank you Lauren.
