Dallas had found himself admiring the castle that the ball was held in. He had lived in Warwick for the past few years to be able to attend but he always found himself working that he never had the chance to come to the New Years Annual Ball. And with Angie being here he thought maybe it was time for him to come and let loose for a night. He was always working or studying that he barely had time for anything else, anyone else. Except for Valentina, that girl had him wrapped around her pinkie and she didn't know it.

"My my," he said as he made his way into the library. There was so many books in the room that it would take years to read everything that was in it. Touching the spine of the nearest book to him, Dallas knew who and when it was wrote. A gift of his it seemed was to just know things but he pushed it off to him noticing the little things. Like in this instance he probably felt the words that was stamped into the spine. His mind deciphering what it was immediately.

Angela was marveled at the massive gala Warwick had put up for new year's eve. She was enchanted by the small town from the moment she had set foot in it, but this event really blew her mind. She had never attended any sort of ball before, prom in her old school was greatly underwhelming compared to this, and going with Dallas was only the cherry on top. She had missed her dear brother so much since their father had thrown him out. She had wanted to go with him for so long, but knew that she couldn't leave their mother with that monster of a father, and she wasn't in danger of being thrown out. Angela hadn't even seen him in all those years, afraid to leave her home and be dragged back by the hair, and their only contact had been online. But then the Santos matriarch had passed, and Angela found no reason to stay behind.

"This is beautiful," she gasped at the sight of the magnificent library in the castle. With her pink tulle dress, she felt like a Disney princess in a ball: the ball, the place, the dress, her brother by her side, it all seemed like a dream, too good to be true. She squeezed Dallas' arm before looking at the bookcase in front of him. "It's unbelievable."

Dallas, unfortunately, wasn't allowed to attend the funeral of their mother. In all honesty, he hadn't known that his mom had died until little Angie came looking for him. His father particularly disowned him when Dallas was decided to attend college. They didn't have the money to put him through college nor could they afford him only working part-time with going to school. Bills needed to be paid and apparently, that was more important than his old man's son.

"You remind me of mom," he said as he walked further into the room. Their mom always found beauty and wonder in everything. He remembers late-night road trips that they had gone on because of family and her always pointing out the pretty house or darling stars. Although these memories were from him being really young, things Angela probably wouldn't remember. "It is though," he said agreeing with the fact that this place is unbelievable.

Dallas comment made her pause for a second, and look at the ground before squeezing his arm again. There was the pull at her heartstrings again. It still seemed so unreal, to talk of her as if they weren't going to see her again, because they weren't. As if she wasn't going to be waiting for them at home with her signature pies, because she wasn't. As if they weren't going home, because really, they weren't. There was nothing to go back to. Sometimes, like today, it didn't feel real. Like she would suddenly wake up and everything would be a dream: her mom would be alive and cooking breakfast while Dallas set the table. Sometimes she felt she would open a door and there she would be, standing and wondering how Angela could think she could abandon her.

Everything in Angela's life had changed so fast, she hadn't had enough time to process it all. Her mom, the light in her life besides Dallas, gone, and then her decision on a whim to follow Dallas to Warwick. She still didn't know the town at all, having arrived only a couple of days before. She just had had time to see where Dallas lived and worked, but she couldn't find her way around, much less meet anyone. "You need to show me more of Warwick," she said, tracing her fingers down the books in a nearby bookcase. "I want to know everything about it."

Unlike his sister, Dallas didn't think this all a dream. He was forced away from home when he really needed his family. He thought they would be proud to see him working his ass off to go far in his life but no. No, when Dallas left he left in a hurry. There was barely a goodbye spoken as yelling ensued. He does remember his mother's sadden face but she allowed him to go. It was for the better truly that he get away and make something of himself. Although, he was seemingly disowned, he did receive letters. They were sent to his best friend but addressed to him. Knowing he would receive them. All from his mother though he never wrote her back.

"I don't think you do," he responded as he stopped and faced his little sister. Dallas knew some weird things about Warwick. Fiction, he told himself. How could he, someone only living here for a few years know so much. He blamed his knowledge on overhearing some of this stuff but he wasn't sure. It was the only logical explanation for it all. "But I'll show you all the best of it," he said with a smile. He hand moving to gently punch her in the arm. It was a little tap, he wouldn't do anything to hurt his sister.

Angela paused and looked at him with furrowed eyebrows. She had never questioned him when he decided to pick Warwick, out of all the places he could've gone to. She didn't remember hearing him straight up complain about the town, but then again, they hadn't talked that much in years. Angela missed her brother, even seeing him right in front of him. He looked older, he was older of course, but there was something different about him that she couldn't quite place. Warwick seemed like such a simple town, what could have his brother so...strange?

She immediately smiled when he tapped her. "Well of course!" She exclaimed, tapping him back, teasing like they had done as children. That was something familiar, something that she hoped would ease his mind. "But why wouldn't I like it?" She asked, carefully, bringing the conversation back to his comment. "Warwick seems like an enchanting town," She continued, turning away from him and toward the books. Angela was a dreamer, and a small town seemed like the perfect setting for a love story, maybe even hers. "What's your favorite place?" She asked, turning back to him with bright eyes.
