I've just finished reading your no. 24, Sheila. Like you, I thought it was pretty good, though it needs editing and proofreading if, as the author states, they're going to publish eventually. My interpretation of it is Regency "Pride and Prejudice and X-Men"! Congrats on getting to 30'
It is 20 degrees F here but feels like 9 degrees. My deck and walkway are still frozen from the rain to ice to snow mix that we received on Sat and Sun. I've not moved the car. We are expecting a bit of warmer temps, I hope will melt it off. Oh, and... hubby is better. They gave him a shot on that last visit to the UC. He even sounds better. Whew!! Thanks for all your prayers and concerns.

We got about 1.5 feet of snow over the weekend. We had a three-day weekend, and I wouldn't let my kids play outside, because the temperatures were ranging between -2 and 8. Wow! Poor kids!! Hopefully they'll play outside for a little while when they get home from school. It's 20 degrees this afternoon. Woo hoo!
Wow, we were lucky that the big snow storm missed us. We got 2 inches then freezing rain. Yesterday it was 6 degrees in the morning but today it reached 32.
Wow! Our rain quickly switched over to ice and just as quickly switched to snow. I think we received maybe an inch or slightly more. Thank goodness it was a dry snow. I could sweep it with a broom. However, underneath was ice. The bitter cold was what was not so nice. All day yesterday and last night it was in the 20s. Just to show you how crazy our weather is... currently, it is 51-degrees F and quite windy. By midnight it is supposed to start raining. With another system sweeping through with a cold front behind it. I got out while I could and ran errands today. It was so nice, except for that wind. Sheila, I'm glad you didn't get the brunt of it. Looks like Marlene got hammered. Sorry, Marlene.
My goodness, you folk across the pond are having some chilly weather! I guess all the temperatures you mention are in °Fahrenheit and not Celsius, which means you're getting it really cold if you're talking single and minus figures! We're more or less used to using °Celsius now over here, so if I remember right, 32°F = 0°C. This morning, we've got a light dusting of snow which fell last night and it's frozen to everything it's touching, and it's currently -2°C, but bright and sunny. Not good for my Raynaud's!
You remember aright about Fahrenheit versus Celsius, Anji, and a large swath of the USA did receive epically cold temperatures! Fortunately, it was not a long-lasting chill in most places.-2C is about +28F.

😄 ....and I've just got back from taking our dog for a longish walk. Temp is around -3°C but bright and sunny. Fingers OK but wish I could say the same for my toes! Hubby is back in bed with more flu-like symptoms. 😔 Going to have half an hour of Jeaane's "individual reading time" then it's off to my weight loss group to see if I've managed to lose the Christmas and New Year gain yet.

Elizabeth is an author of Regency bodice ripper novels while Darcy is a famous actor who decides to take a break from his career to write a screenplay. He moves away from his hectic life in order to be able concentrate on his work to live in Martinsombe which is on the seaside. His one-bedroom rental adjoins Elizabeth’s home. Unfortunately their first meeting is one in which he has found her cat, Tabitha, on his table disturbing his papers. He yells at the cat and then tells Elizabeth to keep her cat out of his house. She nicknames him “the neighbor from hell” and ironically does not recognize him despite his fame. Next she makes a friendly overture in asking him “and his wife” (His housekeeper had made appearances when she prepared the house for him.) to come over for tea but is repulsed. He next sees her as she sings karaoke with a friend at the local pub where he has gone for a drink and dinner with Richard, another actor. He begins to change his opinion about her but with the bad start he has made is not sure how to apologize and begin over. The story has a lot to do with the gossip rags as Caroline Bingley (His most recent “ex”) and George Wickham (Her most recent “ex”) attract attention and slant the truth in appearances in those publications or the stories in the rags are hints of this or that liaison which have nothing to do with the truth. Elizabeth’s sister, Jane, works for a studio in which both Darcy and actor, Charles Bingley, have spent or spend time and when Charles shows a strong attraction for Jane it is Caroline’s lies which separate them (not unexpected in a JAFF variation). Darcy and Elizabeth finally make a connection when he is the man chosen to present an award to Elizabeth for one of her novels winning top recognition for the year. There is much misunderstanding which will have you shaking your head but also some bedroom scenes which might earn a place in Elizabeth’s novels…with the names changed to protect…well, you know what I mean.

Nothing, not one thing except she wakes up in the arms of none other than Mr. Darcy and she’s wearing a rock of a ring on her left hand. How did she allow herself to get engaged to a man she hates and thought hated her?”
137. The Rescue (615 pages), unpublished. The four Bennet sisters (no Lydia) are rescued by a peer from an abusive mother and indolent father. Both parents are also alcoholics. Tale goes on and on over the many years about social climbers and various connections, wealth gained, marriages, etc. So boring. Finally after about 500 pages we get back to whether or not Mrs. Bennet can claim her daughters again after she views them in London as beautiful and rich young ladies and tries to prove they are hers. The prologue tells about the latter event but then the story goes back to when the girls were sold by their mother. Cannot recommend this story.

Both have bitterly blamed the other for abandonment. Will they even acknowledge the other? Or discuss why? (The name of the villain in this tale was astonish you.)
