A missing woman, a recluse universally disliked for no reason other than he is different, the mystery of a baby who disappeared some years ago and a pair of 10 year old girls on a quest to find God. But make no mistake, this is not a religious novel, but the girls are also searching to find out what happened to the missing woman by canvassing the neighbourhood, which is a neighbourhood with secrets.

The writing is strong, but I didn't love the story--I'm glad I already had another book by her at home and that I read this one first, because I liked Three Things About Elsie significantly better even though at the outset I was sure I wouldn't.
