Deep in the forest, Dev held out his hand to Hannah. His pack was snug against his heavy coat. The snow was thicker up here but the weather was clear for the time being.
Before coming out, Hannah made sure she was well covered with sunscreen. Even if the place was woody, she didn't want to deal with the possible sunburn later. It was always so irritating and she usually wore it as often as she could, but especially today since they would be outside a lot. Of course it helped that she was currently all bundled up in her winter gear too. She reached over and and took his hand while they walked, glancing around at the area around them which was....peaceful.
He enjoyed holding her hand, but grunted slightly as he pulled her away from the unseen ledge that he was hoping to guide her away from. "You can't slip before we get there," he said with a smile.
Her eyes widened a little when she noticed the ledge he just narrowly saved her from. She hadn't even seen it until just then. She blushed a little from embarrassment. 'I can only try,' she signed, with a small laugh.

She smiled at him when he promised to keep her safe because she had no doubt. 'I feel just fine. Why?'
'Well I wonder what you do all the time without me,' he said. 'I am glad that things are getting better, some.'
He held onto her hand still as they walked further. He looked up at the summit to judge the distance.
'Good. I haven't hiked a lot in a long time,' she signed. In fact, she couldn't remember the last time.
'Maybe,' she signed and smiled, keeping her response simple because she was a little distracted. Even if she couldn't hear anyway, she felt like this place was very quiet and she liked it.
Hannah stood up straighter and tightened her bag on her back, glancing around at what they could see from there.
The trees and mountains went of for miles around them. In the distance they could see the smoke from town and perhaps the roof of the new school.
'Quite a view, huh?'
'Quite a view, huh?'
'Its beautiful,' Hannah signed, staring over at the town. Everything looked so small and it was amazing. Like some little toy village.
He smiled. 'Do you see there?' He asked, pointing to an area closer to them. The trees were dense and it looked rather unimportant until one noticed that there was no snow on them or under them, as if the snow had avoided it all together.
Her eyes followed his finger to a place she wasn't sure she'd have noticed right away even though it stuck out like a sore thumb. 'Is that where we're going?'
'How long have we been out here?' she signed, decently sure she would have to put more sunscreen on soon.
She chewed on her lip thoughtfully before deciding it was better to be overprepared than burnt. Then she reached back into her bag and got the sunscreen which she spread on every part of her that the sun could hit. It was a bit tough to reach her neck because of her coat and backpack, but hopefully the scarf would cover her enough to lessen the chance of the sun hitting there.
Dev paused with her, seeing that she had done a good job getting everything. He gave her a thumbs up. 'You'll probably need a bit more when we get there,' he said with a laugh.

Hannah nodded, totally serious. She slipped the bottle of sunscreen back in her pack. 'Oh I'm sure I will. There's no way I'm letting myself get burnt today.'
'Not possible at all?' she signed, surprised and a little confused. But how lucky of him. And how different of them.
Her mouth formed an o. She supposed that made sense. Hopefully he wouldn't burn then. 'Well lets get moving. I'm ready to not be cold anymore.'
He laughed and started down the to the area. Silently he helped her here and there, being sure they wouldn't slip.
She followed him down, tightening her backpack straps every once in a while as a nervous habit. She didnt want to chance getting caught on anything. Every now and then she would need help getting down someplace. Or...not really need the help, but she was grateful to have it.
Hannah paused right beside him when he stopped, looking around because it was almost like he was making sure the area was okay.
There were no other tracks in the area and the snow seemed solid enough so he waved her on. "Come on."
She chewed her lip and tugged on her pack straps again as she followed him once more. She was getting a little tired now, but the walk was almost over.
