Sure! Let me think of how to start.

It's just where you create a story, but you use your own characters. TJ probably can explain it better.

roleplay is where you have your own ocs (original characters)
you make your own world but with other people
heres an example

person 1 : Amy tightened her fists. "And this is how you treat me?! After all of this- After all I did for you!?"
person 2 : "I was trying to protect you! Did I not do that?" David shot back.
person 3 : Eric ate popcorn in the background, glancing at his phone once in a while. "I'm bored of this movie. Ready to go, Morgan?"
person 4 : "Yeah I guess. Bye guys!"
person 1 : "You guys are inconsiderate!"

The basics of role-play is very easy
to go OOC (out of character), basically like not in character, you use (( or [
EXAMPLE :
((guys i'm hungry i'm gonna go eat u guys continue without me))
[omg ron is so hot marry me pls <3]

role-playing as your character is just like writing
you're making them talk while using punctuation and grammar
of course since i'm shOOt at punctuation a few mistakes is fine
you're just trying to do your best
also we should make a bio section for characters
also of course when making your character try to avoid making decisions for others (cause its THEIR characters not yours) and try to not insert cliches into your characters
and i'm not sure if there will be violence but if there's a situation like there's a fight between your bffs you ask them
PTK or PTH
PTK stands for Permission To Kill (your character)
PTH stands for Permission To Hurt (your character)

Hey, guys. I had the awesomest idea ever. We should do a RP where you have to be yourself. So, you make a character template where you use yourself, and then, we can do a RP with ourselves. We'll all have to be in the same place, but, still. Am I a lunatic for thinking of this? Yeah, probably.
