in a far away land called Booktopia..........

there lived a group of bookish friends. One day, one of these friends has an idea...

"We need to go to Mars," she said nonchalantly.

"mars?" said the other friend. "why do we need to go there for?"

"Haven't you heard?" the friend exclaimed, eyes gleaming. "The martians have a never-ending selection of books!"

Rest of the friends just stood, mouth agape in the room.

"I'm interested..." said a small voice hidden behind the other girls. "I love books!" It was a girl named Iris.

Encouraged by Iris’s statement, Alex spoke up.
“I am too! I heard the Martians have a technology that allows you to recreate the world of the books while you’re reading them.”

Iris Spoke "That can be fun too but imagine creating a world of horror out of books of H.P. Lovecraft or the creepy worlds of Stephen King. Wonderful Technology, I would love it try it right away."

" I would rather recreate a world of romance. Happily Ever After forever! " exclaimed Lizzy. "Let's get going, I cannot wait to see those books." Lizzy said, "but wait, how are we going to get to Mars?"

"Dunno, we could ride a whale, I guess," said Nema, pointing to flying whale in the sky. It swam like the sky was the ocean as it had an aura that trailed off its tail.

"that's a great idea" said Lizzy. "but it doesn't look to friendly."

"Come on, I'm sure we can manage" insisted Nema, slightly tugging Lizzy's sleeve.

"Oh... fine!" Lizzy grabbed her sleeve from Nema. "Just stop tugging me and let's go."

the whale was apprehensive at first, but it sensed that they were harmless and let them sit on it's back.

"See," Nema said with a smug face. She lightly tapped the whale, treating it like a puppy, a huge puppy with fins and a mouth that could eat them if it wanted.

"I'm still nervous, though," Lizzy replied quite nervously, "Haven't you guys ever read Pinocchio?"

"Pinocchio?" Alex said, " What does that have to do with riding a whale? He was near the mouth, while we will be on top so he can't eat us. Not that he would" she said quickly

"But how do we tell it to take us to Mars?" asked a smallish boy named Richard.

"i speak whale" says Nema.

But i think like a dolphin.

wow! really? that's AMAZING! says Lizzy.

"Well, if we're going to go, let's go already!" exclaimed an eager Alex.

"Better stock up on some snacks: looks like we're flying economy class all the way - I don't see any flight attendants on that whale," said Madeline, who had returned to the room, hefting a shopping bag loaded with junk food and bottled water.

"so, is everyone ready?" says Nema

"No, i need to use the restroom quick, but if you don't want to wait for me, i can catch up."

"alright! well hurry up. it's getting late"

How are you going to catch a flying whale?" questioned Alex.

"easy" says Nema as she starts to make whale noises?

"Oh," replied Alex. "I didn't know you spoke whale. Could you teach all of us?"

i did mention it a while ago and sure i'll teach you, but some other time.

"Well, what if something happens to you, like you fall off the whale? Then no one would be able to communicate with the whale," said Alex. "And shouldn't we give the whale a name?"

"Certainly!" answered Lizzy, "any suggestions?"

"OMG! we're never gonna get out of here." Nema said in frustration.

"Well, the whale's got to have a name. Isn't that obvious? I think Sir George will do the trick. I've always liked that name…"

"how about Moby?"

"But I hate Moby Dick!" Lizzy wailed.

"Cry baby!" exclaimed Alex. How about Ahab, for the guy Moby swallowed?"

"Seriously?" said Nema raising an eyebrow.

"we need to go NOW"

"Fine let's go!" said Lizzy, "although I still think it's a bad idea to get on a whale with no name."

"Then we'd better come up with a name fast, right whale?" Alex asked, suddenly able to speak the whales' language.

"I have a name," replied the whale in whalish, "but it´s too complicated for your language, so, just call me Wave."

"Hello, Wave," said Lizzy. "Can you please take us to Mars?"

"sure can." said Wave. "how many are you?"

Doing a quick count, Adam replied "Six of us, Wave. This is Lizzy, Nema, Madeline, Richard, Iris and I'm Alex. How long would it take you to transport us to Mars?"

"About five weeks, but if I can borrow a space car that would be great! Do you by any chance have one?"

Madeline considered. "No, but I'm sure my dad can get one."

Liar, thought Nema and felt her right hand form into a fist.
