Ruth Alber | 2 comments I think it is safe to say that reading Proust is an experience like no other. So, after reading such an transporting book, the question that remains is what to read next? Where do you go from this point? No book is comparable to Proust, so how can you read anything else after being transported to the world of Proust. What books do you suggest to read after Proust?

Welcome to the group Ruth. Although I'm enjoying the Proust experience, and I agree that it's an 'experience like no other', I wouldn't say that the experience is entirely 'life-changing' or that Proust is my favourite author...heck, he isn't even my favourite French author...but he is an interesting and unique author; and for that, the experience is thoroughly worthwhile.

Are you reading Proust? Have you already read Proust?

Ruth Alber | 2 comments I'm rereading Proust and enjoying it. I really enjoy the style of Proust with his long passages and vivid descriptions. I am currently on Sodom and Gomorrah.

I am facing the very same question. One supremely interesting read is Celeste Albaret's 'Monsieur Proust', a vivid and personal memoir of her time as Proust's domestic servant. But this of course is not the equally transporting novel one is looking for.

I've recently read William Carter's biography of Proust and Proust short stories, but it's not the same as reading ISOLT.

Monsieur Proust is on my TBR list as well though.
