The story begins with Holly attending Sarah Byrne Basterash’s funeral and next we’re seeing Cassandra’s crime scene. Did you figure the two might be connected?

I did not immediately connect to two deaths.

Neither did I, Melissa. I had to go back and reread it.

Yes, I suspected that they were. Gerritsen's plot threads almost always converge.

As much as I know she does this, I still failed to include this death until it was revealed. It’s hard for me to recall these intros that are connected to nothing until much later.

Makes sense. I always look for the connections, which is what then catches me by surprise in the Bosch series where there are often unconnected threads and more than one case.

I don't even recall the intro to this book. I didn't connect Basterash's death until Jane figured it out.
