When did you begin to suspect, if ever, that Jenny may have been a slave and not the legitimate daughter of the plantation owner?

Phrynne | 607 comments I guessed when Sarah and her mother visited the gossipy friend (can't remember her name) who told them about Jenny's lack of social skills when she arrived. Young Southern ladies did not lack these skills:)

Robin (robinmy) | 1214 comments Good catch Phrynne. It never crossed my mind that Jenny was once a slave.

That was Esther Peabody, Phrynne, and I too started thinking that Jenny might be a slave. And, you’re right. Southerners pride themselves on having superior social skills. That was my second clue.

~ Giulia ~ | 193 comments I never thought that she was a slave, I thought she was just an impostor from a lower class.

Lauren (laurenjberman) | 2240 comments I also didn't guess that she was a slave. I thought that Jenny's secret was that Charles was Daisy's biological son and Jenny passed him off as her own to trick Gerald into marriage.

Robin (robinmy) | 1214 comments That would have been a good twist in the plot, Lauren.
