I did enjoy this first part! I do love science, so this was right up my alley.
I enjoy all the characters as well, and this might turn out to be a really good book! The writing style also fits the story well (:
I'm not a huge fan of time jumps in books (actually, I hate them so badly), so kinda disappointed about that, but I'll see how it turns out!

But I really enjoyed the first part! It's exciting and a bit confusing but it manages to keep my attention. And Kira seems very likeable! The whole pregnancy and baby thing is terrifying and just really cruel ... I'm curious for Part 2 now!!

I don't know what I expected, but I've had my share of young, irritating female protagonists, so I was positively surprised by Kira. Yes, her plan is reckless and unlikely to succeed, but I see where she is coming from. I mean, seriously, getting pregnant as often as possible knowing that you will end up seeing your babies die? That's no way to live, being a baby-making machine for the Senate.
As a feminist, I can't help but feel that the Hope Act is extremely unfair - all females have to go through the pain and trauma of pregnancy, birth and losing a child? That's just not OK. When Marcus didn't support the plan, my first thought was "Easy for you to say as a male, the Hope Act doesn't really affect you."
I don't know if we'll see more to Owen Tovar, but I liked the guy. (Macon, Georiga is also the hometown of Lee Everett in Telltale Games' Walking Dead - a game I like a lot, maybe that has something to do with it. Or maybe it's the fact that he has a camel.)

I totally agree with you!! And ... *high fives you* LEE EVERETT! ♥ I though the same, oh god! Tovar seemed nice and I liked him ... although I'm not sure if we'll see him again, hm. Would be great!

Here you we can discuss the first part of the book! (No spoilers after that part!)
