The next book on the 100 list - No 17 - that we haven't read as a group.

Jeffrey (wordsmith2294) | 26 comments I liked this! Not my favorite book ever, but it was more than I expected. You hear about a story told from a dog's perspective, and you think "It'll be cute," and this story was much more than that.

I think the writer has a keen ear for narration, because the story felt consistent from Enzo's perspective and always interesting. I think most people imagine a story told by a dog and write the dog-character blissfully ignorant and one-sided. But Enzo is perceptive, sarcastic, complex, and even vindictive sometimes, without losing his loyalty and charm that make him dog-ish. He's a good character and I trusted him completely to guide the story home.

It's not the kind of book I usually like, so it was hard for me to get into it. I liked it anyway.

Buck (spectru) For me, The Art of Racing in the Rain, is a wonderful book. I recommend it wholeheartedly. It's not my usual fare, but I thoroughly enjoyed it.

Kayleigh | 97 comments I have just started listening to this as an audiobook, all I knew about the book before starting was that it is from the perspective of a dog, I am thrilled to find out that it seems to reference Formula One racing a lot, of which I am a massive fan, if someone had told me this sooner I'd have read it years ago, here's to hoping it doesn't disappoint. I'm also assuming Enzo is named after Enzo Ferrari.
