A conversation with Mohammed Shamimuddin, author of Tints and Taints, published by Bluerose Publishers. 1. Tell us about yourself. I took up writing Fiction when I thought I had well seen and known life and people around. And my stories come not from my sheer imagination---- they come from life, the life I have seen and known ! 2. If not being an author, what was your dream in life? My dream was to become a brain-specialist surgeon, getting medical education from All India Institute of Medical Science, Delhi, or from Christian Medical College, Vellore. But my dream was frustrated, and I changed faculty and did M.A., Ph.D. in English Literature. 3. Who do you attribute your success to? I attribute my success in Fiction writing basically to my parents ---- to my father from whom I inherited a Romantic temperament, a love of Art and Nature, and a tender, 'feeling' heart ---- and to my mother who gave me the anger and disgust I feel for immorality and dishonesty I find around.I am also thankful to my daughters who helped my Fiction book, TINTS AND TAINTS OF LIFE, come out. 4. Any message you would like to give to your readers? We are soldiers of life, and for a soldier fighting well is more important than conquering. So, like a soldier, we have to fight till we fall in the battle of life, victorious or vanquished.
