baxetle | 7 comments Hi!
the book was translated by Jonas Jakštas, and written by Katiba Kinyabulatova. I don't speak Lithuanian. can someone find the Lithuanian title of Kinyabulatova's book, and maybe even its cover or other data? is it possible? has anyone read her works/heard about her?

Caro the Helmet Lady (caro_helmet_lady) | 489 comments Hi, Bahetle.
Never heard of this writer before and she has a little in common with Lithuania it seems. From what I found on the internet she's Bashkirian and you would probably found more (if anything) about her on russian speaking internet. Here's the link to her wikipedia article https://ru.wikipedia.org/wiki/%D0%9A%... Unfortunately, there's no english version.

He most likely translated it from Russian.

langana | 29 comments Yes, he probably did. Although I didn't find this name in his list anyway

Maybe Lithuanian version is not on GoodReads. Do you know the original title of the book?

Напишите пожалуйста фамилию по русскому или оригинале, посмотрю в сводном каталоге литовских библиотек

Киньябулатова, Катиба Каримовна.
But I didn't found anything in the electronic catalogue of Martynas Mazvydas National Library of Lithuania.

Caro the Helmet Lady (caro_helmet_lady) | 489 comments Nope, I checked that too before, nothing about her in there, and no info on Jakštas ever did any translations for her books. He once edited an anthology of eastern poetry, but that's it.

oh i didn't see your answer before, sorry.
i don't know which one of her books was translated. maybe «Голос отца» («Атай тауышы») 1964, or «Внучка партизана» («Партизан ейәнсәре») 1974. they both had several publications in Russian as far as i know

а у вас в стране нет ещё переводчиков с такой же фамилией? честно говоря, там, где я читала, было написано, что на литовский язык перевёл И. Якштас.

In this page http://ufalit.csdb.tk/index.php?optio... there is one sentence about translations with your provided information: Произведения Катибы Каримовны переводились на языки: турецкий, татарский, киргизский, литовский язык (И. Якштас); эстонский язык (И.Триккель); якутский язык (А. Вилюйский); удмуртский язык (М. Иванов); украинский язык (Д. Павлычко, И. Измайловский, М. Лиходед, П.Симоненко).
Unfortunately, no publication years are mentioned.

I tried to look for other translators with same last name, but non of their names starts with I. Without full name is hard to say if it actually starts with I. in Lithuanian. Besides Jonas, there is a translator Adomas Jakštas.

I have a crazy thought. Maybe the translator's name is Yakstas or Yakshtas. These last names definitely exist and are English equivalents of Jakštas. Since we don't know anything specific about the translator, he could as well be emigrant.
