What a fantastic ending!

I rated this book three stars ten years ago when I first read it. I bumped it up to five.

What did everyone think of this final conflicts?

I loved the battle of The Two Rivers with Parrin but that battle Rand had with the Forsaken felt a little sudden and forced to me.

If you read Rand's story-line pretty much from the first we see him after exiting Rhuidean at Dawn, you'll see that Rand's battle with Asmodean was actually pretty well foreshadowed, and that Rand had in fact been planning it all along.

One of Nynaeve's sections also has a bit of foreshadowing in it. She sees a man dressed in blue nosy-ing around the outskirts of Rhuidean in Tel'Aran'Rhiod. The Gleeman in the caravan Rand and co. encounter in the Waste is also dressed entirely in blue. So that could give the reader a clue that something is up with the Gleeman. There is another thing too, but I'm nor sure if it's a Spoiler or not at this point in the series.

I totally saw that foreshadowing as well, and it didn't land as strong for me. The conflict with Rand and Asmodean just felt like a box to check off and that there was no real danger on either side at any time.

Everything in Tanchico dragged and dragged for me.

I basically just loved everything in the Two Rivers and that's really what pulled me through.

Are we entering the dreaded slog starting in book 5? or does it start later than that? This is my first time reading the series.

Hoang (hoangh98) | 35 comments Oh my! That was A ride. I love it! Tanchio is definitely a drag. I think that the Black Ajah's stuffs are not that interesting, especially Liandrin. She is just so boring to read. Why did Robert even bother to keep her for so long? Her goal is so one dimensional and boring. He has the Forsakens, Seanchans, the Children of the Light, the White Tower, and the Dark One. So many elements, yet he's keeping these boring, weak and arrogant villains that really gives such low amount of threats that it's ridiculous. Nynaeve is strong enough to even go face to face against a Forsaken, even if it's a weak Forsaken. I don't see how Liandrin or any of the Black Ajahs can match Nynaeve now or even Elayne and Egwene. Only real threats are probably Elaida, but Elaida is pretty stupid for killing almost all the Aes Sedai and Warders. The White Tower is as weak as ever. I don't see how they can hold against any army anymore. Let be real here, Elaida probably is not even on the same level as Moiraine. Moiraine trumps all the other Aes Sedai by feats, she can summon the Balefire by herself without the aid of a Angreal/Sa'angreal. She went through Rhuidean, which probably boosted her power even more. She could've probably trump Moghedien even quicker than Nynaeve did. The Black Ajahs should've ended in book 3 with them finding out from all the Black Ajahs about the A'dam for males from Tanchio, and sending the girls to that City with a clear goal. Taking out the Black Ajahs, the plot properly would've flowed faster, and felt less dragged. It seems Robert just wanted to give the girls more to do. I think that A'dam gonna end up in Lady Suroth's hands soon because Nynaeve was stupid enough to send Domon out to sea alone. I think it's foreshadowed as well in the first chapter of her speaking about finding out a way to control Rand, if I am not way off here? She will capture Domon somehow (smh) before he gets to throw it away. However, even if the Seanchans or anyone else has the A'dam. I don't see how they can put it on Rand with all the Aiels and potentially new armies surrounding him in the future. I think if you read the books continuously for your first read through. You enjoy them more because you see all the foreshadowings more clearly without rereading the books. I am enjoying myself right now with my first read through. The journey hooks me in really well.
