This is Where I Leave You
question
Has anyone read it?

I was wondering if anyone has read, This is Where I Leave You by Jonathan Tropper or any of his other titles? If so, what did you think?
I've read all but Tropper's first book. Love them all. There are parts of this book that'll bring you to tears but many more parts that'll cause you to laugh out loud. He's a terrific writer, read him.
(I'm scared to go see the movie, I'm sure it will suck).

I liked this book a lot, but found myself surprised by character Judd Foxman's utter obsession with women and their body parts. Are grown men really like that?? Viewing every woman through the lens of what she would like in bed?
I'll be the lone dissenter. I loved The Book of Joe, Enjoyed One Last Thing Before I Go and even found some value in the incredibly whiny Everything Changes.
I found very little redeeming in This Is Where I Leave You. The only likable characters were the little kids. Oh, and Linda-she seemed decent enough. Yes, there were a few laughs but most of it was fairly predictable and it was incredibly crass. I had been planning to see the movie after reading the book, but there's no way that will happen now and it will be a very long while before I pick up another Tropper book, if ever.

I've read them all and thought this was actually the weakest, the earlier ones are better, they start being slightly formulaic
I read it- It was interesting- flawed characters that you kind of root for. You realize that we are all a little crazy in wanting a perfect life and we are all a little crazy because we can't be perfect... I am trying to think of something that it reminded me of... Maybe Silver-lining Playbook? READ IT- you will at least be entertained and finish it thinking "hell yeah!"
I loved this book. It was really different than anything I'd read before. And it was very funny.
Great, easy, fun, and funny read. One of the few books I've read in one sitting. Was in the right frame of mind and it's really hard to put down anyway.
I've read this and really enjoyed it. I have not read any of Tropper's other books but look forward to reading them eventually. I am hopeful for the movie because of the casting and also Tropper wrote the screenplay himself rather than someone else doing their take.
Love, Love, Love Tropper's novels. All of them are great. Very few authors make me truly laugh. He always does. His stuff reminds me of the first few Nick Hornsby novels. Just funnier.
I enjoyed this book and also The Book of Joe. Very enjoyable and well written.
i loved this book. I laughed out loud when reading which i seldom do haha
Thanks Andre and Ellen! I'll post my thoughts after reading it.
I've read every Tropper published! He is one of my favorites.
I read it. I thought it was enjoyable. It's one of those families coming together when someone dies and talking about that person, and the impact their death/they had on their lives books. It's also got some crazy funny moments. Overall I liked it a lot. It's a solid read.
