Have you ever loved something so much that it consumes your life?
Josh and Jordan Bells are twin brothers who are in 7th grade. They have a love for basketball that was passed down to them by their father. They spend most of their time perfecting their game, and when they are on the court together, they are unstoppable. Eventually, Jordan meets a girl and she ends up consuming all of his time. This puts Jordan and Josh’s tight-knit bond at risk.
When Josh and Jordan’s father falls sick, they have to decide if they want to play in the playoff game. Jordan passes up the opportunity, but Josh knows he must play for his father. Will they end up with a winning season? And, will their dad live to see his sons’ success?
“Crossover” by Kwame Alexander is written is novel verse form, and I am a HUGE fan of this writing style. I didn’t know it existed until I started exploring different types of novels for this class. I give this book a 5/5 rating. I love the author, and I love the book. I highly recommend this book for everyone, but I mostly recommend it for young adult males who struggle finding a good book to read. It’s a quick read and it isn’t daunting with long pages and chapters.
