Well, here I go. 16 years ago I had gastric bypass. It was successful... I went from over 600 down to 300, then back up to 450. I stayed at 450 (a final weight loss of over 150 pounds) for over a decade. It changed my life, allowed me to leave behind the wheelchair, go camping, many things I thought out of my life forever.
However, I am now gaining weight again. 0 pounds in the last year, and at 47 that is not good. My knees are screaming when I stand up... snap, crackle and pop are not just cereal anymore. So... I have begun the process of looking into re-doing the bypass.
Yes, Kim's sudden passing does play into this.... it scared me. However, the reason for me doing this is totally health related. I am fairly healthy for a big man.... I have PVCs and gout, that is it. But it is now beginning to adversely affect my health and I choose to act. I am not setting a goal of 220 pounds. I will be happy with 350 to be truthful.
Time will tell what happens with this endeavor. I will keep you all updated as I find out information.
And we will be here for you the whole time. One can honestly say that pain in your knees is affected by your weight; that's a correlation that actually makes sense. So you do whatever you need to do. It sounds like you're working from sensible reasons.
