Lucy (tigerlilywarior) | 35 comments This is probably a short discussion, but I'm curious.

I was talking to a friend about Dark Skye, both of us are big IAD fans but we never really talked about the books until recently. Anyway she kept calling Thronos, THRONE-os and I kept calling him THRO-nos.

Then we started talking about Kiss of the Demon King. I called him Red-strom, she called him Reed-strom.

Agree to disagree.... until we talked about The Enemy of Old.

So, how do you say Lothaire?

Ellen (shadowmaster13) | 113 comments I say it THRONE-os, RID-strom and Loath-AIR.

Ren Puspita (renpuspita) | 164 comments I pronounce it Lou-tey-ye...kinda like pronounce name in French, lol! (actually, its' French name!)

But from this link, the right pronouncation is :lo-TARE

http://babynamesworld.parentsconnect....

Thronos is Thronos, and I pronounce Rydstrom, with rid-strom

Rute Sobreira | 18 comments If it's french it must be lo- taire with a strong rrrr from inside your lungs ;-)
Right?

Rute Sobreira | 18 comments Perhaps it is easier if you heard the audio book.
The reader must pronounce it well. The autor should have helped.

Ellen (shadowmaster13) | 113 comments It's one of those things, I remember fighting with one of my friends over how to pronounce Sirius Black, when we were 13-14.
I was pronouncing it like Cyrus. This was before the movies came out so there was no way to know.

It's interesting to see hoe people interpret the same written words differently.

Lucy (tigerlilywarior) | 35 comments I always throught Lothaire was like the Italian word, lothario (one who seduces and deceives women), since his last name sounds kinda Italian (Daciano). Lo-thar-ray.

I'm glad there's so many takes on how to say his name. I don't feel so bad anymore. I have to do the Audible. I love his accent!

Sheronda | 3 comments I listen to the audio books. They pronounce them. Throw-nos, Ride-strom and low-thair. They guy that narrates them is out of the world with the accents. Lot haired seems to be Russian or in tat area of the world if I'm not mistaken from the description in the book.

Jean | 16 comments Yay. I was pronouncing them right!!! Yay me! How did he say Carrow? And kadrin and markiketta? Lol I'm always curious about it

Rosie (rosie11111) | 1 comments Wow I've got it all wrong then, I've been pronouncing Lothaire Loth-hair and Rydstrom Ride-strum. To each their own I guess? Anyway, I love the names from these books.

Kelly (kellzbellz) | 13 comments I was saying loth-ee-air lol! Dunno why it's just how I read it :P Ride-strom, throw-nos. Marry-ket-ah I hate that name I know I'm not reading it right lol!
