This will be an ongoing tips & tricks guide on how to use some of the tools of the Goodreads site, for ease of use and improved readability of the end user.

Problem: I don't see many discussion topics on my start screen

* This can be alleviated by selecting the General link, or by selecting Showing xx of xxx topics. This will display 30 topics per page, with a page selection link.

Problem: I don't see a topic I commented in, or created, so I can subsequently comment again

* If the topic has new comments in it, even if it's not on the initial page you can click on Topics: unread and all topics that have new comments in them will be displayed so you can select and comment in them.

* When you create, or comment in a topic, at the bottom right of the "comment" text box you can select or deselect Notify me when people reply. When selected this will send you an email to your verified address complete with the comment, and all you have to do is select that to go directly to the topic so you can reply.

Problem: I can't see all the topics I've created

* From the top right-hand side of the screen select My Group Topics and all of the topics you have created will be displayed.

Problem: I can't see the comments I've made

* From the same top right-hand side of the screen select My Group Comments

Problem: Jumping to new comments

* Select the red (x new) comments and it will take you to the new comments.

These are just a few tips & tricks to try to alleviate some user frustration while using the Goodreads forum, I hope this helps with some user frustration. As I do not use the Goodreads Mobile App I do not know how these apply to the App.

Np, I have a lot of time on my hands so I figured it might be helpful since a few were having issues.

Another (maybe) helpful tip: even if you are on a mobile phone, switch to the Desktop Version of the site. You can click the preceding link or there is a link at the very bottom right of the page. That will allow you to edit stuff, use the reply button, and other stuff that’s not available on the mobile version.

Also, on the Desktop site the threads will be marked as read whereas on the mobile version they will not — so you might not know when there are new comments.
