What did you think of Book One? Let's discuss!

Brittani | 14 comments Okay, I’m hooked. Strange, but intriguing. Like I have so many questions. I can’t even imagine the feeling of being able to ‘re-live,’ the past AND being able to change it. Slade is an interesting character that seems to do things that benefit himself ONLY. Helena, seems important but Slade is constantly reminding her that she would be nothing without him.
Can’t wait to read more!!!

Hooked as well!! I’m curious to see how Barry’s life prior to his daughter’s life fits into this. Slade seems like trouble with so much money and technology at his hands.

Alexis | 13 comments Haven't finished book one yet but I am also hooked. Trying to imagine having two memories of life and understand why this leads to suicide. Intriguing clues about the first wife and her experience with this syndrome. And the big question.....how did this syndrome get spread to people? How can it be contagious, if that is the right word. Will write again when I have finished book one.

Sarah W (sarahsbookishreviews) | 1 comments I love the reason Helena gives about why she studies memories. She states “by the time you know you’re experiencing something it’s already in the past.” I don’t know why but that really stuck out to me.

Lin (linnola) I just finished Book One. My first reaction was “wow”!!!! I have way more questions than answers. On to Book Two.....

message 7: by Becca (new)

Becca Alright, I just finished book one and I'm hooked, too... and yes, there are quite a few questions left. Like what happens to all the people who knew how life went on? I mean, if people truly travelled back then... I don't know, Franny would never die, Joe and Ann would never meet nor have a child so Ann could not possibly know she's been cast aside. But she does... and Vince acts in two times as well. If he has a fly fishing shop now and is happy with running it then why is he working for Hotel Memory on a different timeline? So how does this time travel thing actually work? Do people exist twice now? Or once with both timelines in mind? And how come Barry could experience a small snippet of this already within the diner? I don't believe in FMS being infectious or a disease at all but I still wonder when and how he got manipulated... Plus I'm really worried about Helena... I cannot say how much reality she is still experiencing or if Slade sets her back, maybe even several times, at his own wishes...

Alexis | 13 comments Finished book one. So many questions and few answers! If people die in the tank, and are not revived, how can they actually be alive in another timeline? So FMS is not contagious, but a chemically induced phenomenon. There's got to be a bigger bubble of context here but at this point I have no idea what it is. The last part of the chapter really had me glued to the pages.....hope the rest is like this also. So there is one person who reports that after going back in this experience, he has lived three years. What happens to people...do they go crazy because they retain their memories which don't match up with present reality or just decide they can't bear two realities at once?

William Stanger (wcs53) | 28 comments This book is turning out to be so much more than I thought it would be. At first I was a little confused at what the timelines of the two characters had in common, but now I’m starting to get an idea. This is turning out to be a good one and I have so many questions that need answered now.

Sally Durbin | 16 comments Also hooked and confused! I'm intrigued to see how this goes, going into Book 2. I feel like Barry isn't just going to live his life though, but it will be interesting to see how this plays out with his daughter back in the picture!
