okay so i actually read this book a while ago and it took my 3 brain cells like two months to finish BUTT it is honestly one of the most beautiful and heartbreaking books i have ever read. so so so real even if the premise seems un-relatable, i found myself understanding and relating to all of the characters in some way. read on sluts you’re gonna love it.

I'm starting it today and am excited for heart-wrenching pain :)

i read this a while ago and loved it but this time around i’m paying more attention to the writing than i did last time and i’m literally so in love with the way this woman describes things i don’t even mind that it’s a long book every word she uses is so careful and perfect?? SO TALENTED she makes everything sound so beautiful

I'm only 2 chapters in but I found it so frustrating how long it took Theo to get through the museum, though the writing is really well done. It's also so depressing how he truly can't wrap his mind around what's just happened to him and that anything but the worst case is true. I'm excited to see where it goes from here!

okay i just finished this and its my new fav. im pretty sure this is the longest book ive ever read but i wish it was longer like i was constantly thinking about it and usually when there are time jumps in books i favor one was more and cant get through the later parts but with this i literally loved ever page i was never bored and it had me so emotionally involved the whole time. i want to go see this painting. so good the characters are like so developed and this book is so sad but so happy and its like real idk i loved it 10/10

just finished and oh my god I loved it so much!! donna tartt's artistry with words made me swoon and boris is one of my all time favourite characters. I'm super excited for the movie coming out next month, I hope they do a good job with it because I will 100% bawl my eyes out!!

My opinions of this book is bittersweet. At times I loved it and other times I felt like it dragged on. I feel like it could have been cut down to 350-400 pages easily. However, overall It was a beautiful story (very depressing though). I am SO excited to watch the movie and compare. Watching the trailer almost brings me to tears. The casting is so good!

I know it's september already but i just finished chapter 4. It does feel like it drags on at some points, but its very descriptive and builds the "atmosphere" of the story. So far I love it and will binge read so i can catch up lol

I finished this one a few weeks ago. Beautifully written for the most part. The drug/drunk scenes seemed too long and too plentiful for me, but they were pretty accurate if you know that whole scene, man. I like the book and have thought about it often since finishing, which is a good sign in my reading life.

I have a few worries however.

So, here is one that I wondered about. Theo's mother thought to provide for him with a trust fund legally tied up so that the father could not get to it, but she didn't legally provide for his custody.

Here's another. No one can do that much drug use and function at the level Theo functioned for that many years. That one I will give to the author on the fictional license clause.

so i just finished the book and i love it and i can‘t stop thinking about it. it was so beautiful, sad, dramatic, crazy and exciting and i found it so good. and the twists in the story make it so much better i think. so i love this. but i was kinda confused when he was on drugs and talk about so much different stuff
