Penny (penne) | 748 comments What did you think? Will you continue on with the trilogy? Do you like the main characters? Were you satisfied with the ending? Give us your thoughts!

Tara (tarabookreads) | 58 comments I read this book about a year ago after I read "The Black Prism", which I loved, but this one wasn't that good for me. The story line didn't intrigue me and I wasn't that interested in the main character Kylar and I also expected more magic to be involved. Even though Brent Weeks is one of my favorite authors (loved the Lightbringer books), I won't continue reading this series.

Hank (hankenstein) | 1230 comments I too loved the series and even listened to the .5 book. These are exactly what I need books for, a little mindless escapism. Rothfuss drudgery has its place but I enjoyed the frequent excitement of "The Way of Shadows" even if some of the characters were a tad generic.

Veronika KaoruSaionji | 109 comments I read the whole trilogy and I love it. But the ending is still very open and I WANT (NEED) continuation! :o)
I like Kylar, but I love Momma K and Durzo. I love Solon, Feir and Dorian, too, and was very sad because fate of the last one. I dont´like very much Elene or Vi, but I like Sister Ariel.

mayia | 2 comments Veronica, I couldn't agree more :D
However I did like Vi as a character, she had something to her.. The something that Elene definitely lacked!

John Mckernan | 107 comments I liked this book in the beginning and, as I got nearer the end, I found it only got better. The ending reminded me of the Tom Clancy books that were my favorites years ago. The book builds up to a climactic ending that keeps chugging for a good 200 pages or so. I was really happy with its ending in just about all aspects. It had enough important deaths to really mean something and kept alive (sometimes surprisingly) enough of the characters to allow good continuity in the series. I'm not a romance sap but liked how Kylar rode off with Elene in the end (who I liked as a character). Logan's wife being brought back to life was a little surprising but it definitely leaves something to look forward to.
I will definitely continue the series within the next few months. This book club has officially become a victim of itself as of last month. I keep starting these really awesome series with y'all (Black Company, Robots and Murder, The Dagger and The Coin, First Law,) and I don't have time to continue them because I can only handle 2 books a month. So as of last month I pick only one of the group's selections and low and behold, now I have another series to continue. Oh well, it's not a bad problem to have and I would have never found some of these authors without the group members. Big thanks

Ellen Marcolongo I loved this book & I'm really looking forward to reading the other books in the trilogy. I do hope Kylar and Elene end up living "happily ever after!"

Gav451 | 145 comments I thoroughly enjoyed this book and will finish the series in due course. I liked the questions at the end and liked the fact that other characters were coming to the fore in the tale. I want to know what happens next.

It was a pleasant surprise I thought as if far exceeded my expectations.
