Kendra G. ツ ~There is some good in this world, and it's worth fighting for~ (12kendrag) Hello. I wish for the group members' opinions on this group. Is it sleepy? Do authors litter this place? Is it unorganized? Is it inactive? Do you love it?

I NEED ANSWERS!

Thank you!

All of those; yes. But the 'sleepiness' is common to many groups and that's okay. But yes I would say that it is disorganized, unfocused, and authors are not being shown exactly where to put their promotions.

I've been yearning to see a more energetic moderator tighten things up a little around here.

Its not just my penchant for neatness and order. We're doing a disservice to the genre by not putting up a good front. We need to be attracting new readers and keeping thrillers in the forefront of Goodreads as much as we ably can.

When newcomers to these books see a sloppily-presented group; they may turn away from it; dismiss it; under-rate it. Its on us to do what we can to keep thrillers thriving!

Sincerely hoping a moderator sees this thread--and does something. Thanks for posting!

Update: Michael (our moderator and chief) has generously offered me a chance to co-moderate with him. Its a pleasure and a privilege. Hopefully we can increase our ranks; generate new activity; and help popularize the 'thriller genre' more around Goodreads. Down Venus! Up Mars! Down with emo-vampires; up with machine-pistols!)

FYI, thrillers are hot books these days; be in no doubt about that. Not sure where y'all live but in New York City the advertisements on the subways trains frequently tout the latest bestselling thrillers.

Anyway. I thank Mike for allowing me to help out with housekeeping. I've spent some time today doing the following:

a) added *precise* new discussion categories or 'bins' (so that topics can be found easier)

b) moved all existing posts/threads into appropriate bins

c) added group bookshelves & added books to those bookshelves
--authors, you should follow suit for your own books!

d) added a homepage background (jungle warfare theme)

d) added fun photos to the group photos page (take a peep!)

If any of these changes are causing you confusion, do not hesitate to PM me (or, create a thread in the new 'Group Business' category). For example, I made sure every author's promo post has now been moved to our 'Author Promo' section. Maybe you don't see a thread you created a while ago? That's probably what happened to it.

I also added 'book links' to many promo threads where the author forgot to do this for his own book (very amusing to me--authors, how can you forget this step?)

Summary: I think most of what I have done is self-explanatory. When you create a new thread simply pay attention to what 'bin' you are placing it in. This will keep things organized and efficient.

Full speed ahead gang.
