Hi and welcome. @)---

This sticky thread covers the rules. So please read it before posting.

Be kind to the other members and just be nice. We all like good books, we all have bad days and strong feelings sometimes - and that's ok. But this is like a virtual cafe to stop by and have a chat. Please take the frustrations outside; go run for an hour or smoke a cigarette, then join us again.

No personal fights or attacks please.

Authors are welcome, but please don't post new threads about your books or about your blog posts everywhere,
There is a section for authors, and there are specific threads to use for talking about your books, your giveaways, and any writing advice. Please keep those threads and keep the discussions in the designated threads and board.

The reason for this is that the main audience for this board is READERS, and NOT only AUTHORS. If you are into more in-depth discussions about author- and marketing-specific topics, there are several other groups in Goodreads for this. We are for the readers.
Please keep this in mind.

To enforce - or remind or enable - good behavior, let's put a simple strike system.

Advertising about your books in unsolicited new or existing threads
- 1. strike = warning
- 2. strike = probation
- 3. strike = out

Introducing yourself would be nice, but isn't mandatory.
Since our members are located anywhere, it would be nice to know where you live or what you do and who are your favorite detectives or authors etc.

Welcome. :)

Robin | 6 comments Hi everyone, my name is Robin. I'm new to both goodreads and this particular group, so any advice on any good authors or books would be welcome. Thanks, and by the way I have a thing for long series, so any tips on that front would also be welcome

Marion | 1 comments Hi, all, my nickname is Irish. I love mysteries. Have recently moved to Naples, Florida from PA and miss my book club terribly. My favorite authors are Jeffery Deaver, Lee Child, Evanovitch, Hiasson to mention just a few.
Always open to new authors who have excited a reader or who write complex stories.

Hey y'all new ones :)

The nice thing about book clubs is we can do those in Goodreads too, when there aren't enough readers of the same genre in your area (or when one works uncomfortable hours etc). So let's pick some authors, or some countries, or some genres and let's try to find a theme to read for a month.
Would a sub forum for Virtual Book Club or Read of The Month sound good for that purpose?

Anna Lord (annalordauthor) | 8 comments Hey all, it's great to stumble across a forum like Goodreads that is geared toward readers and writers of mystery stuff. Several authors I have never heard of are now on my must-read list. I will also be downloading 3 titles in the Gaslight trope as reviewed by Ken. I live in Melbourne, Australia. I write detective fiction under my own name and romance books under a pen name.
