Task # 25. 5 - Andy P. ‘s Task: Create Your Own Compound Word

No book with children or kid’s as a main page genre may be used for this task
The total number of pages for both books combined must be at least 500 pages.

Read two books each of which has a title (subtitles are excluded) which contains a word of four or more letters which can be combined to form one compound word.
REQUIRED: State the compound word.

For this task, compound words are made up of two smaller words that are combined to make a new word with its own meaning. Each word component must be able to stand on its own and must appear in dictionary.com as a part of speech: noun, pronoun, adjective, verb, adverb, preposition. The compound word must also appear in dictionary.com

Examples: The Water is Wide + Before the Fall
Water+ Fall = Waterfall

it's all 25.5, and it should all be fixed now.

Florence | 679 comments Are hyphens allowed? Dictionary.com has “prime-time”. I was planning “the prime of miss jean Brodie” and “swing time”.

Lauren (laurenjberman) Will this work:

Calculated in Death + In Like Flynn
Compound word - deathlike, an adjective meaning resembling death

Thanks!

We are using dictionary.com as a source and they list prime time as two separate words. Typically compound words do not have hyphens so this combination will not work for this task., Sorry.

Yes deathlike appears in dictionary.com as an adjective. If you decide to use another combination, you can check it on dictionary.com and if it is listed as described in the above task, it works. No need double check with me.
Cheers,
Andy

Check Dictionary.com, If it is listed as spelled as a compound word it works. If it is not listed it doesn't

I checked on Dictionary.com and plurals seem to be ok, but each of your words needs to be at least four letters and"no" is only two so this particular combination will not work.

If Ironside appears as a compound word ( noun, pronoun, adjective, verb, adverb, preposition) on dictionary.com (the link is in the task) then it will work. Otherwise no.

EShay Fagan (eshay11) | 569 comments Does dreamworld work for a compound word? Dictionary.com looks like it is two words or hyphenated but Merriam Webster has one word. Link here

message 26: by Andy (new)

Andy Plonka (plonkaac) | 4207 comments We are using dictionary.com as our authority. Therefore, if dreamworld is not listed as a compound word, which you indicated is the case, you cannot use it.
