Thank you so much! I'll be working on it over the next few weeks and then I'll announce in properly in a video. Hopefully more people will support it and maybe make it an annual thing :)

Lauren (literarywisdom) | 6 comments That would be awesome if it was a yearly thing. Its a really good cause.

Christina (adventuresinpolishland) | 2 comments Can't Look Away by Donna Cooner is a great book for this. It deals with cyber bullying in the vlogger community!

Paper Aeroplanes by Dawn O'Porter

Thanks guys! Both added to the list :)

Emma Petfield (kyrawolf289) | 1 comments Love this and think it's a brilliant idea. Would be great if you could get a charity that specialises in anti-bullying to get involved too.

My suggestion isn't necessarily considered as a book about bullying but since I saw that Wonder and Thirteen Reasons Why are on there then my ideas started running thin.

The only suggestion so far would be The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night Time?

message 10: by Lex (new)

Lex (literaryspine) Oh, I love that you've created this read-along Sarah! I think Tease would be a great pick, I've been really interested in reading it too.

message 11: by Katie (new)

Katie Brock | 5 comments I have books that have subtle hints to bullying.
In Journey to the River Sea the main character is sort of bullied by her step sisters.

Obviously Draco picking on Harry but I don't know if that counts.

I can't really think of any so I hope a book I own comes up as I can't afford to buy books at the moment!

message 12: by Lauren (new)

Lauren (literarywisdom) | 6 comments This book isnt nessiseraly about bullying but maybe the boy in the striped pajamas.

message 13: by Elena (new)

Elena Robertson | 15 comments Excellent idea great cause. Eleanor and park, hate list, shine, the truth about Alice, please stop laughing at me are all going to be on my list :)

message 14: by Emily (new)

Emily (booksunstitched) Becky wrote: "Butter by Erin Lange is a good one I think ^^"

Aah yeah I remember reading that! (Who could forget)

message 15: by Emily (new)

Emily (booksunstitched) The Merciless by Danielle Vega? ;)

message 16: by J.M. (new)

J.M. Varner (jmvarner) Not to be all self-promoing, but in Mister Teacher Person I deal with bullying in a non-traditional way: students bullying teachers by creating fake online personas of them.

I would also recommend A Thousand Cuts for a unique story on this form of bullying.

message 17: by Georgia (new)

Georgia | 1 comments Hate List by Jennifer Brown! I was going to suggest Speak aswell but I see it has already been added :)

message 18: by Holly (new)

Holly Finding Cherokee Brown by Siobhan Curham is a PERFECT book about bullying and anti-bullying.

message 19: by Leyla (new)

Leyla Demirel (leylandemirel) Wonder by R.J. Palacio

message 21: by Jana (new)

Jana Frambach | 1 comments Eleanor & Park by Rainbow Rowell :)

message 22: by Diego (new)

Diego (diegoocon) | 1 comments I'm not a huge fan of the book, but Eleanor & Park can fit for this. Is a very unspoken kind of bully that is shown there.

Eleanor & Park

message 23: by Verity (new)

Verity | 2 comments Thirteen Reasons Why by Jay Asher. It is the most amazing book and deals with bullying and suicide.

Thanks guys, I've added all of your suggestions to the list, bar a couple that might be a little bit of a stretch for this particular theme.

Thank you so much for you support already! I'm really excited to see all your TBRs and chat with you during the readathon week.

Keep those suggestions coming! The full list can be found here: https://www.goodreads.com/group/books...

message 26: by Andreja (last edited Oct 15, 2014 10:02AM) (new)

Andreja (drey4) | 5 comments What about Bully from Penelope Douglas? I know it's more of a love story, but the book does deal with this issue.

message 27: by Hannah (new)

Hannah (hsmith) What about Tease by Amanda Maciel?

http://www.goodreads.com/book/show/18...

There's a link to the goodreads page for the book. It's one which I currently have sitting on my TBR shelf.

I think this readathon is a great idea and will fully get behind it! :)

message 28: by Hannah (new)

Hannah (hannahlovestoread) | 1 comments Dead ends by Erin Lange. I haven't read it though, but I'm sure there's a bully in it.

message 29: by Aya (new)

Aya | 10 comments I think "Forgive Me, Leonard Peacock" by Matthew Quick has some bullying in it actually. Great idea for a read-a-thon by the way :)

message 30: by Zuz (new)

Zuz An Unstill Life
I believe this has an element of bullying. I didn't read it yet, but I'd love to during the readathon :D

message 31: by Trisha (new)

Trisha (trishaj) | 1 comments Perks of Being a Wallflower by Stephen Chbosky.

message 32: by AJ (new)

AJ | 4 comments Some Girls Are by Courtney Summers deals with bullying as well :)

I am fully behind this read-a-thon and can't wait to participate! I've read Wonder and Tease already, both incredibly powerful books. Excited to pick up some of the suggestions from here!

message 33: by Holly (new)

Holly | 1 comments Does Fangirl count? By rainbow rowell

message 34: by Mustardseeds (new)

Mustardseeds | 1 comments It's been ages and ages since I read it, but I seem to remember some mention of bullies in The Blue Girl by Charles de Lint.

Great idea for a readathon, by the way...I'm definitely on board. I think I'll "make" my students participate...I have some short stories in course books that deal with this subject...

message 43: by Kizzy (new)

Kizzy (kamrose) | 1 comments It's non-fiction but if anyone fancies doing some informative reading you can use to really help stop bullying in the real world, This Book is Gay by James Dawson really helps explain everything about the LGBTQ community :)

message 44: by Meg (new)

Meg | 1 comments Back Home by Michelle Magorian? The main topic is not bullying but it definitely occurs during the book. Also this readathon is a great idea!

message 45: by Amber (new)

Amber (bambles) | 1 comments I haven't read it yet but 'Colourless Tsukuru Tazaki' by Haruki Murakami sounds like the main character is really affected by bullying in his younger years. Not sure if it's the main drive of the book but I picked it up because I think it explores how badly it can affect someone when their friends turn on them and start being the bullies.

This is a brilliant idea for a read-a-thon! Really looking forward to participating if college work allows :)

message 46: by Kate (KP) (new)

Kate (KP) (sophistikatedshelves) Winger by Andrew Smith

message 47: by Kate (KP) (new)
