Carrie Rubin (carrierubin) Hello, I'm Carrie. Though I write medical thrillers, I enjoy reading all types of thrillers, including legal. I've read most of Grisham's books (maybe all of them, actually, except his young adult ones). I see he has a new one out in a few days called "Gray Mountain." I look forward to it!

Wendy (wendyblue1) | 1 comments Hi Everyone

Michael thank you for the invitation.
Like CL I love to read! My love of mystery began with Nancy Drew and blossomed out to legal thrillers.
I actually enjoy a variety of genres.
I live near Toronto and belong to a live book club that has been around for 10 years.
We all just read and discussed Gone Girl and we are all going to see it at the theater on Tuesday evening.
One of our favorite books to read and discuss was Defending Jacob.

message 24: by Belle (last edited Oct 17, 2014 03:35PM) (new)

Belle Blackburn | 19 comments Hello all,

I kinda fit into this category since my first book (writing the sequel now) was a murder mystery and involved a lot of antebellum law (which was really hard to research!) and lots of medicine, both traditional (which seems like voodoo now, which ours will 100 years from now) and mountain medicine. But I do love a good thriller.

I was born married (actually 36 years) and have three kids, the last one flying out of the nest in August after graduating college. Except for this one, who ended up with a job in Nashville (where we are), the other two are on the west coast. They went as far as they could until they hit an ocean. We either did a really good or really bad job raising them because they are very independent!

Quit the job at the doctor's office two weeks ago to just write. Life is good.

Jackie | 8 comments Hello everyone! I think I've seen some of you in other groups I belong to.

Thanks for the invite Michael.

I live in South London. I like to read all sorts of stuff really, although not so much fantasy/paranormal/vampirey things. I'm not an analyser or reviewer - not clever enough for that! I just like to read for fun. Nice to meet you all.

Jennifer (INnerSANITY) (innersanity) Hi all.. Michael, thanks for the invite! I'm not a lawyer.. And I'm not an author.. Although I do enjoy writing on my blog from time to time... I'm the proud mom to a beautiful 11 year old girl.. And I'm engaged to my dream man!! I am currently obsessed with reading.. I haven't read any legal thrillers.. But I know some of the movies based on John Grisham's books were pretty good.. My other interests mostly lie in mystery/thriller/serial killer - So if anyone could recommend a good book with those elements in it as well as the legal aspect... to start me off?

message 30: by Jerri (new)

Jerri Blair (jerriblair) | 2465 comments My name is Jerri Blair. I just self-published my first novel which was described in one review as a legal thriller, true crime thriller and coming of age novel all rolled into one. I have actually written six novels, most of which clearly are legal thrillers. I recently retired because of health reasons and finally began to try to publish the novels I wrote during my 29 year career as a trial and appellate attorney when I had no time to think about publishing or marketing strategies. As an attorney, I was involved in a number of high profile cases, one of which had two movies made about it. It was during some of these cases that I decided to begin writing as another avenue of causing positive change in the world. I have gotten some good reviews, was nominated for the Kirkus literary prize, and got an honorable mention for the Red City Review best fiction. However, I have no real plan for marketing. Any helpful hints would be greatly appreciated. I am willing to talk ideas, etc. with anyone also.

Jennifer, try Immoral by Brian Freeman. It's a really good book with all your elements (except I cannot recall for sure, but I don't think serial killers were part of it).

Jerri Blair (jerriblair) | 2465 comments Mike, my novel's title is Justice For The Black Knight" and it is available on Amazon Books. I'm not sure what the protocol is for these groups. This whole thing is brand new for me,, and by thing I mean using the internet this way. Until I retired, I generally had secretaries and paralegals do everything on the computer for me, so forgive me if I am no up to date on how one uses this type of site. It really is quite remarkable to be able to engage in cross-country or even world conversations with others through the medium.
