Nay Denise (naydenise) | 197 comments Do you ever give up on a book that is uninteresting or difficult to read? If so, at what point do you throw in the towel?

Melissa (mrsdpt) | 2 comments I try so so hard not to give up on any book. So many times I have wanted to throw in the towel but then the book gets really good the last half. If I'm really hating something, I will pull up goodreads and look at other reviews. If the general theme is that the book isn't great, I'll put it down. But that's rare.

And I know, there are too many good books to waste time on something that you aren't liking- but it makes me feel like I haven't completed a task if I don't finish the book!

I feel the same way! I normally just continue reading it to the end.

Eliza (ramblybookworm) | 7 comments I rarely give up a book half way too, I usually try to finish it up even if I really dislike it.

I tried reading Under The Dome recently. It's such a long book and I only got about 150 pages in and I felt like the story was taking too long to develop. It had way too many characters that I lost track of a few and didn't care about others. So I googled what happened, I was extremely disappointed in what the synopsis said it was about. So I stopped reading. I'm glad I did, it's such a huge book that I would've wasted so much time reading just to be incredibly upset!

I agree with all of you. I've never put down a book before... I almost did with Delirium, I was just NOT feeling that first half of the book at all, but I made myself finish it and I ended up really liking the ending! :)

Stephanie (bookishlybeauty) I will honestly give the book till about the 5/6 chapter. If I'm not engaged, if I don't have a connection with any of the characters, I'll set it down. I feel that there is so many good books out there that I don't want to waste time with mediocre ones. (Prime example was the girl with the dragon tattoo. Everyone kept raving about this book and I started it and it was so boring..,then I found out that it didn't even pick up till like 400 pages in. Um, yeah I didn't finish it)
