Sarah Baughman | 3 comments Hello everyone! My name is Sarah, I am fluent in ASL and am studying to become a teacher and advocate for the language and culture of the Deaf. I am joining this group in hopes of finding resources to improve my knowledge and support of the signing community. Any book recommendations regarding Deaf experience are greatly appreciated! I look forward to learning and sharing with everyone!

and welcome to the group.

Amanda (amandabookworm) | 4 comments Thanks for the add to the group. I have bilateral significant hearing loss. I have always loved reading, but as my hearing has gotten worse, books have been a great outlet for me to explore my feelings and stay connected with others. I had no idea there were so many books with deaf characters. I am looking forward to reading many of them soon.

Heather R | 1 comments Hi, my name is Heather and I just recently joined the group. My best friend is Lara(LL-air-uh) and she too is a new comer to this gathering of amazing people. We are both in middle school and have be forced to join Goodreads for our ELA class, but I am now finding out that this site might not be to bad. Neither of us are deaf or hard of hearing but have found ASL if a great way to talk in class! And have even been able to take to some hard of hearing students in the high school. We are looking for some new books to read and maybe some pointers on learning this amazing way to communicate <3

Laurie Hello, I'm Laurie. This is a late post, sorry. I've been around for a while :) I'm deaf and an ASL user. Avid reader. Hello to you all, nice to be here with you.

Al | 6 comments Hi! I'm a teacher of the Deaf, and I use ASL, though I wouldn't say I'm fluent anymore, because I haven't had a student who signs in 4 years.

Hi, I'm Minda Quenn. I'm mute and use ASL. I'm very interested in finding deaf/mute book characters and friends.

Lance Morcan | 6 comments Silent Fear (A novel inspired by true crimes) by Lance Morcan
Hi y’all – I’m preparing to release my eighth novel with my son James Morcan. Our next book, SILENT FEAR (A novel inspired by true crimes), is set inside a prestigious London university for the Deaf where our heroine – a New Scotland Yard detective who is a CODA and is proficient in BSL – finds herself trapped with a serial killer and a deadly virus to keep her company.

In return for an endorsement in the Acknowledgements section at the front of this book, we seek feedback from members of the Deaf community for this superior multi-genre crime, thriller, mystery, horror (with shades of sci-fi) before we go to print.

We are also screenwriters and filmmakers and have put SILENT FEAR into early development as a feature film through our production company Morcan Motion Pictures.

Likely release date for this 750-page novel is August 17.

For full details of what we require and what we are offering, see my new entry elsewhere in this group’s General folder.

Thanks!

Lance
