Beta reading
I offer two types of feedback: an annotated version of your manuscript and a document with my summarised feedback, each available at various levels of detail (see below). They are designed to be complementary, so I recommend getting both, but you may also choose just one type.

The annotations can include flagging of grammar and spelling issues, light commentary on plot, character etc., and detailed feedback on your prose. You can pick and choose as you wish, including how large a proportion of your MS to apply it to.

The feedback report usually covers the whole MS but could also be concentrated on certain areas if you wish. You can choose between a brief and a detailed report.

Price depends on the level and extent of the service required (see the pricing link above for some examples). Happy to advise and to provide quotes for a couple of different combinations if you’re not quite sure what you want or can afford.

Proofreading
I’m a qualified proofreader and proof-editor, having trained with the Publishing Training Centre in the UK (US spelling or other English variants not a problem though).

I offer two similar but distinct proofreading services:
* the traditional proofread. Only corrects actual errors and inconsistencies. Recommended if the manuscript has already been line- and/or copy-edited.
* the proof-edit. Includes a normal proofread plus simple style edits. Recommended if the manuscript has been neither line- or copy-edited.

Prices from £3 to £10 per 1000 words based on a free sample proofread/proof-edit. Most manuscripts fall in the £4 to £7 range.
