Mr Spitzer - "he who was useless as regret" his soul divided
he was his twin
twin beds, twin golden cradles
"Peron had been quick, quick to live, quick to die - but Mr Spitzer was stupid and slow, lumbering toward his own open grave..."
His brother's suicide - crashing through the clear glass and plummeting to earth - his brother's gambling, his recklessness...
Again many contrasts and juxtapositions set up and then undermined/made paradoxical...
