Jocelyn Vane is a new resident at Sarah’s clinic who comes from a higher station. What do you think of Sarah’s decision to introduce her to Jack Robinson and consider him another choice? Was it matchmaking, a pragmatic alternative or a little bit of both?

Phrynne | 607 comments It was both but it was also highly unrealistic! They were definitely an odd couple. I wonder if they really could have found a place in society.

For Jocelyn, it was the best of her alternatives. For Jack, I think it’s a pipe dream but he’ll learn a lot from Jocelyn.

Robin (robinmy) | 1214 comments Such an interesting twist. I think it was a good alternative to giving up her baby and going back home to live. I'm sure there were lots of marriages based on convenience for both parties.

Charlene (charlenethestickler) | 1392 comments I will be very interested to see if this couple reappears in our series. It's hard to imagine that they will develop a truly loving marriage, but who knows?

I think they’ve got a shot at developing feelings for each other. Jack’s very charming and he was attracted to her at first sight. They are coming together with their eyes wide open about each other and already like one another. That’s a pretty good start.

Robin (robinmy) | 1214 comments I hope we see them in future books too, Charlene.

~ Giulia ~ | 193 comments I'm curious to see if Jack really manages to enter society with this. I got the impression that society was pretty unforgiving with scandal, but who knows maybe Jocelyn knows what to do to make them accept their hasty marriage.

Sharon Kallenberger Marzola | 242 comments I think it was both. Sarah is a romantic at heart. I agree with her that the match has something for both of them. I like Jack even if he is a shady character. At this point Jocelyn doesn't have any hope for happiness alone. She would be miserable if she gave up her baby. It is a marriage of convenience, but with a little work, it sometimes can turn into more.

I hope they are in future books. Jack will always be shady and talked about behind his back. He also has money and someone will need it. Jocelyn will help introduce him to the right people who need it.
