Unwind
question
The first book of the unwind series is better than the other books in the series and should be a stand alone: Change my mind.

Guys, the first book of the Unwind series is the best. We have the most memorable characters, the most memorable scenes, and honestly I think it's great as a standalone book. The rest of the series does nothing but give us an ending. I honestly think the rest of the series could just be cut and condensed easily into Unwind. The one thing is Lev's character development. That was awesome. But whatever.
Please comment what you think about the rest of the Unwind series and your opinion on which book is the best

I both agree and disagree. I do believe the first book would've been okay on its own, but I personally was left wanting more after it ended. I enjoyed the story so much that I wanted it to continue. I met Neal around October of last year, when Dry was released. I asked him about Cam and how he came up with him since his story and character are quite out of the ordinary. He said that Cam was something he thought of way after writing the first book and that he actually wasn't planning on making it a series, but the thought of this character intrigued him so much that he just had to keep writing. My least favorite book in the series is probably Unwholly, and I mean "least favorite" very loosely because it was still great. There wasn't much going on other than introducing some new problems and characters, but it lead to a lot of interesting and intense events. Unsouled and Undivided, however, were incredible all around in my opinion. There wasn't one second where I felt bored while reading them. I was very emotionally connected to every character throughout the entire series. I loved seeing characters like Starkey and Nelson rise and fall, learning more about Lev, getting more development between Risa and Connor, and just seeing everything actually be resolved. Whether or not the books following the first one were necessary really is a matter of opinion and what satisfies your expectations of the plot. I know that I am personally not satisfied with a story until I see everything being 100% resolved with zero cliffhangers or leaving me with "what if" questions. As long as the sequels are written well, which I believe they most certainly are, I see no problem with them as a continuation :)
I have only read Unwind, and I'm terrified of reading the sequels because Unwind was SUCH a great stand-alone book. I was surprised to learn there were so many more books to the series. I honestly think Unwind by itself was fantastic, and wrapped up the story nicely. It gave the readers enough to live in the world with them, without any questions.
Amesthyst I totally understand that. Sequels are always so hit or miss but who knows you might try it and love it : )
However it’s always up to you if that’s where you want to stop your personnel Unwind canon 👌

I feel although the first book leaves me feeling unresolved, there's still such a wrong justice going on and I'm glad the author acknowledged and solves it in his other novels. Characters like Cam and Starkey, however, while are great characters in themselves, don't add very much to the world.
Although I do see your view, I love the new directions that the series decided to take, because I know I was left wanting to know more about this world Neal created and then he delivered.
