message 2: by Laura (new)

Laura | 685 comments I have about 70 books, most unread 😬

message 3: by Manny (new)

Manny (midnightmoss) | 143 comments Probably over 500 as well. I have 110 mangas alone. 😂

message 4: by Tony (new)

Tony (flintflash) | 48 comments Close to 400 in my library, probably 50/50 hardcover/paperback.

message 5: by Ashley (new)

Ashley (age1213) | 156 comments Ohhh this is hard. In unread books, I have about 400 and in books I've read and want to keep for my bookshelves, I probably have about 150-200 ish.

message 6: by Ricky (new)

Ricky McConnell I have books all over the house and in the attic, hard to say how many, several hundred, about 75% read.

message 7: by Cheryl (new)

Cheryl (cherylllr) Several dozen that I read and can't part with, will reread, mostly children's books. Half a dozen cookbooks, about the same reference books. Probably nearly 100 unread that I hope to read and pass on before we move again. I don't randomly keep books.

And I'm not counting the hundred or so that are my son's or my husband's.

message 8: by Bookworm (new)

Bookworm (catsy2008) I only have about 150 because i get rid of books i dont like. most of the books I have I got this year.

message 9: by Nancy from NJ (new)

Katz Nancy from NJ (nancyk18) I have over 400 books in my hardcover and paperback library. And this was downsized twice when we moved from over 2000 books. Today I do the majority of my reading on my Kindle which has 1300 books there and 400 read.

message 10: by Cheryl (new)

Cheryl (cherylllr) It's so hard to downsize from abundance!

Having downsized more than once, the most success was just after a flood. My solution :
Just add water.

I or I should say we are back up to about 600. Of my part of the collection about 60 unread. Uncounted are those in boxes or set aside for donation or re-sale or..? Far more hardbacks then I had thought. For some time now I mostly buy second hand and most of the time hard backs are cheaper than paperback.

While I am at it,
The work is all on you but please consider Operation Paperback as a way to find a good new home for your finished with.

Cheryl (cherylllr) Most of my books go to Paperback Swap and Little Free Libraries, but I will look at your suggested website, too.

message 13: by Britt (new)

Britt (britts_reads) | 404 comments I’m working on collecting to have my own big library that friends and family can use one day! Whenever I can afford a house! 😅 I have about 150 right now, mostly paperbacks of classics.

message 14: by Cheryl (new)

Cheryl (cherylllr) So old-school, Britt... I love your sense of tradition!

message 15: by Dana (new)

Dana (danaelaine) Right now I have 512 books, I know it's a very specific number, but I keep track of my books on here in my own bookshelf called owned books. I am planning (with the help of my dad) to build a tiny-ish "she shed" that will be a mini library behind my house so that I have my own little place to go and read but also so that I have a place for all of my books.

message 16: by Cheryl (new)

Cheryl (cherylllr) Oh! If we weren't renters, I'd be begging your dad to come here when he's done w/ your space!

message 17: by Dana (new)

Dana (danaelaine) I know I am so lucky he’s willing to help! And another special part about it is that it’s going to be mostly built out of the barn boards for my grandfather‘s barn. And I make stained glass, so couple of the windows I will be making special for it, or at least do window hangings. I plan to have a little sign for my “little library” that says “open” and have a little desk and book to sign-out books for friends and family.

message 18: by Dana (new)

Dana (danaelaine) Catherine, I will!! My house isn’t big, it’s a cape style, and I think around somewhere between 1200-1400 square feet. I have a good sized lawn though, so a she shed is possible. Also I bought my house from family (it’s the house my grampa built) and it’s in Vermont so it’s not as expensive as other states. But I totally understand about not having a big house and that’s why I need a she shed for my books, it’s either this or I have to think about giving them away because I wouldn’t have space in the house to display them. I’m so excited for it though. It’ll be my own little get away. My brother is going to live with my husband and I, and then the third bedroom is going to be set up for my nephews when they sleep over and/or guests when they visit. So between my she shed little library (I think I’m going to call it “The Little Library”) and my all season front porch I plan to have 2 lovely spaces with a bohemian feel to relax and read whenever I want.

message 19: by Dana (new)

Dana (danaelaine) Oh my gosh to be living a life compared to a life in a book would be amazing!!! I am going to strive for that! Honestly I’m thinking with the all season porch a Professor Trelawney kind of vibe (if you’ve read or seen any of the Harry Potter movies) with big comfy pillows and blankets and chairs little end tables. And I’m planning to make stained glass cactuses, spider plants, succulents, bees and spider webs for my porch (because I can’t keep real plants alive) — all of this is happening this summer and I am just so excited for it all, I started a bullet journal this year of all my house projects

Cheryl (cherylllr) oh my goodness
:speechless:

message 21: by Emma (new)

Emma | 1 comments I have maybe 20, I mostly use my library and audiobooks.

message 22: by Ainun (last edited Jan 31, 2020 08:43AM) (new)

Ainun Zahra | 77 comments I have a collection of 800 physical books.I have read most of the books downloading from online or by borrowing from others. My mom has a huge collection too.She has two different huge bookshelves where at the least 2000 books are kept.I have not laid my hand on those yet :) One day,I plan to have my own library.

RJ - Slayer of Trolls (hawk5391yahoocom) I have about 2500 physical books lying around this place.

message 24: by Cheryl (new)

Cheryl (cherylllr) All you people! I just can't. Even before e-readers, when I was hoarding, I probably didn't break 800.

message 25: by R.B. (new)

R.B. | 4 comments The current number of physical books on my shelf is 40, and I didn't even read all of them. I wasn't much of a reader growing up, I tended to stick to a few trusted authors so my buying was limited.

Of course if I were to count the total number of books in the house it'll be much more, both my mother and sister tends to hoard on books.

message 26: by Laura (new)

Laura (laurab22) | 2 comments I'd guess at least 900, probably a lot more. I have almost 200 checked out from the library right now. (I homeschool my kids, some is for that.)

message 27: by Nancy from NJ (new)

Katz Nancy from NJ (nancyk18) I have over 1,000 unread books on my Kindle, 500 unread hardcover and paperback books in my closet which serves as our library and 200 keeper books which includes many genres.

message 28: by Ryan (new)

Ryan | 18 comments I have a little more than 200. As of now, the three shelves I have are full. Will have to get another before I add to my collection. Trying to do better about reading the ones I have before buying more, which seems to be a common difficulty.

message 29: by Cheryl (new)

Cheryl (cherylllr) Flagged this but left it up.
It's in more than one thread in more than one active group.
Trust GR to take care of it.

message 30: by Anu (new)

Anu (anu_datta) | 31 comments I would say about a 100 books, about 60% of then unread. I hate to admit that I prefer to read on my Kindle.

What's there to flag ? Is this an objectionable topic ? There are different people in different groups,so what's the big deal ?

message 32: by Apollo (new)

Apollo (huntressathogwarts) 68 books (counted), read most of them.

message 33: by Mariana (new)

Mariana Since I recently cleaned my shelves I can say that my collection of physical books is 112 (last time I counted), including veterinary medicine books and not counting the three dictionaries (English, Galician and Uruguayan sign language). Still thinning my collection but now I'm down to the bone. Aprox 15 to 20 are not read yet.

My digital collection is around 2000 books, it's so messy and many books are repeated that I don't know the real number.

message 34: by Bethany (new)

Bethany Habegger | 82 comments I currently own 253 physical books and 129 of them are unread. I have been slowly picking away at my stacks of books recently. I also have a small collection of antique books that I hope to continue growing.

message 35: by Kirsten (new)

Kirsten (kmcripn) Physical books? Too many to count. But if I go by Goodreads I have:

Physical Books: 552
Kindle: 1862
Audible: 474
Downpour: 162

message 36: by W (new)

W It's been a good long while since I bought physical books. It's time to add a few dozen more.

message 37: by Barbara (new)

Barbara Between 500-600 not counting what's on my Kindle.

message 38: by Sandy (new)

Sandy Mathews (lots2read) I have 354 most unread. I am working on reading what I have on my shelf. A friend cleared her read bookshelf and passed them to me, I did appreciate her kindness. I have 1,000 on my kindle.

message 39: by Andrew (new)

Andrew | 52 comments According to Goodreads about 1000, but I think it's actually more like 900 and something.

message 40: by Zara (new)

Zara | 9 comments Wow, y'all have appreciable number of books.
I only have 20.

message 41: by Ida (new)

Ida (ida_my) | 40 comments Physical books are somewhere around 150 but half of them are schoolbooks and cookingbooks :D We don't have much space and kids toys have taken over most of our storage space :)

message 42: by Jennifer (new)

Jennifer (jhaltenburger) 300 or so "actual" books. 10223 on kindle, 5646 on audible.

Some of the 300 are cookbooks, first editions or otherwise "keepsake" books. Some are out of print and not available in electronic format, and I'm reading my way through those then donating them.
