There are a couple of Casca books by Barry Sadler that are set in Vietnam. Warning, the earliest published books in this series are the best. He went off the rails later on. The Eternal Mercenary is the first. Panzer Soldier & The Legionnaire (set in Vietnam) are both good. The Phoenix, also set in Vietnam, isn't quite as good, IIRC. The Trench Soldier was OK except he had the Maginot Line in existence during WWI. Sigh.
Heinlein's Glory Road is about a soldier going off on a fantasy quest after returning from Vietnam.

This covers several critical works on the impact of the war:

It is also an interesting historical account of SF and the "police action"....

"Falkenberg sends Slater and A Company on a deception mission to bait the enemy south of Allansport, where they find themselves facing the major enemy force waiting in ambush for the main body of the 501st. Though A Company takes heavy casualties, its survivors are able to spot for Falkenberg′s artillery; and Slater takes and holds a strategic hill called the Rockpile. His success cuts the enemy line of retreat and insures their defeat. Slater is severely wounded and medevacked to the capital for regeneration therapy, his second trip to the medics since arriving on Arrarat."
--West of Honor, later incorporated into Falkenberg′s Legion
It is listed as such at the beginning of the novel.

So far, of all the choices, it seems The Healer's War would be my first choice. It was also written by a nurse who served there.
